Got a quick question: Can you tell me which sensible Nutrisystem diet is out there.? Looking forward for any answer. My 2nd question... We're travelled 13 days during Thanksgiving seeing kids and family. I essentially put myself on maintenance during that time. I know that it's possible to stay on plan whereever you go.....but it's not always feasible. And, I was going to have a real Thanksgiving dinner.

When I got back I weighed 213.

Then we travel again for Christmas. Anyone else do something similar?..

Yes sir! although you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else to confirm this as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Nutrisystem guys because they can answer your Nutrisystem question better...

No break, just fit the Thanksgiving meal into my Nutrisystem plan. Missed the pumpkin pie, but the Nutrisystem cake filled in nicely...

I "went off plan" and didn't bother me a bit. I been down this road before and it's long, if you try to sprint you will burn up I know because I did. Slow and steady gets you there to stay. One meal with sensible portions of whatever I choose to eat will not derail me. If it does then I'm not ready to complete the journey anyway. Christmas will find me doing the same, small portions of anything I desire.Besides people I care about took the time and made the effort to prepare something special for these rare occasions, and I'm not going to let them down over a few extra calories a couple times a year.

I went to Montreal for Thanksgiving. No Nutrisystem foods, just moderate amounts of good food and a couple of beers at the Canadiens game. I gained 6 pounds over the 4 day weekend but dropped that weight quickly once I got back 100% at home. I suspect it was just higher sodium content that caused some water retention. I have found the same on several business trips. 3 or 4 days at home and back on track. JT..

I had three meals off the plan, a few drinks on three days and it did not derail me. I maintained the weight for the week so I guess an accomplishment. I am thrilled to be more than half way there. I am wearing a suit that has not fit properly in at least 5 years, and it is still in style! woo hoo..

I guess that the real question to ask is did you really go off plan? I did and I didn't. I did because I didn't eat Nutrisystem packaged foods. I didn't because I had a little bit of everything and at the end of the day I didn't go nuts..

This time of the year is tough for everyone on a diet. The key is to find balance. I don't think of this as a diet anymore but rather as a new way of living. You should be learning how to eat. By depriving yourself of the turkey, the stuffing, those yams and a slice of pie, you're only proving to yourself that you don't know how to eat yet. A little bit of everything is really on plan..

Here's a thought. Fill out the tracker under "My Program" and see how far off-plan you went. I filled it out in advance of dinner to help me determine what would work. It's a great tool...

Ifeder is correct, If you view Nutrisystem as a diet instead of a life change it will most likely,as all diets do, eventually fail. One of the key elements to diet failure for me has been deprivation. Yes I can or use to be able to, drop pounds very quickly. I have had to make weight in my younger years whether it be for wrestling in school or boxing in the military.

The "sprinter" approach worked in the short term. It's the long term where it breaks down for me, That one whopper after 6 months and it's the "I'm on a binge syndrome"..

From participating here on this board I have learned from those who have had long term sucess that if in a blue moon a whopper or a mac or on a special occasion, some "off plan" food makes it's way to my plate then with some sensible restraint I can indulge a little. The next meal, or next day, or next minute is coming and it's back in the direction I need to go. I will get there.

TWO FULL WEEKS to get back to where I started the day before Thanksgiving. That's how long it took me to lose the 7 plus pounds I added over the long weekend..

Was it worth it? I'm still not sure..

This is a lifetime journey..

Not sure I'll ever deserve a "Goal" bear even if I reach my goal weight..

However I know, I'm not ready for maintenance or to go it alone yet..

I need you guys to report to and keep me honest...
