Quick question... Do you think this is a good Nutrisystem diet? Hoping for any response. Second question of mine... Does anyone take the dinner entrees out of the microwave containers and use a real plate when eating dinner? My wife comments that the food would look more appetising on a plate. I really don't care. I'm down 38 pounds and I would eat the food out of a dog bowl if I had to. |

Good question... I dunno what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably know..

Why wash another dish? I just eat out of the container..
Here's another question, though, about the containers. I recycle all the paper containers. And, I've been adding the black dinner containers to the plastic recycling. I have no idea if they eventually get discarded at the recycle center. Does anyone know if they are recyclable?.. |
That is what I did from day 1 and it has clearly helped me when I dine out...
Yes they are... take a look on the bottom of the black plastic containers. you will see a triangular logo with arrows. that means it's been recycled and therefor can be again. I'm pretty sure it's polypropylene..
If you see this they are good to go.. Http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thu...le-symbols.jpg. Take a look at this too:. Http://www.earthodyssey.com/symbols.html.. |
I eat them right out of the containers for convenience really... all we have at work is paper plates [ugh] and most of this stuff is too sloppy for that..
And at home.. I'm just plain lazy to use up all those dishes. My tummy clearly tells me what 'size' the portion is. LOL. Eek! Sorry guys... have to get in the habit of watching where I'm posting.. lol.. |
I have been eating from the containers myself because I'm too lazy to do more dishes. However I've started getting annoyed with the glue they use to seal the plastic top on. I think I even accidentally ate a small piece of it once. I may start using dishes.. that's a good idea to get used to noticing how big a portion size should be...

Thanks for the web sites B_E_N. The dinner containers are a #5 and are recyclable...
Wait just a minute...these things are microwave safe? I've just been eating them out of the container without heating them...saves washing another plate and all that electricity for a microwave!..
Ha, I have eaten a few Nutrisystem lunches cold out of the container rather than go off plan because of the lack of a heat source..
Now that I am 35 pounds lighter I am sure glad I did... |
If you put it on a plate with your veggies etc, it makes it feel like you are having a real dinner..not fast food...
Recycling facilities vary from city to city so what's acceptable in one area isn't in the next. A quick call or web site visit will let you know for certain..
I eat right out of the container - guess that makes me an honourary guy... |
NO, I have never eaten my NutriDinners out of my dog's bowl. If you wanna get all freaky with yours' then that's your choice, but , NO, I haven't. I'm not judging mind you, just sayin'...
I take them out and put them on a plate - especially the really soupy ones with lots of gravy. The food is much more palatable especially some of the tomato sauce ones where there seems to be a lot of tomato-flavored water when there's a little sauce on the food rather than vice-versa!.
I also recycle the containers. Boxes and trays. The glue is really annoying sometimes, especially when the food is hot and meatloaf sauce arcs across the kitchen. I've considered removing the food before cooking as well, but haven't yet done it. The mashed potatoes and rice is marginally nicer when not in a block shape!.. |
I bought 3 of these when I started NS. One for breakfast, lunch and dinner...
I always put the food on a plate, it makes me feel more normal and not like I'm eating a TV dinner (which I detest)..
Time to confess..
Put it in front of me and I'll eat it. Any way it's served. Take it from there.. |
I usually dump my entree over some veggies so I don't usually eat out of the containers, except for the dry mix soups. I add extra chili powder, cumin, & red pepper flakes to the Pasta & Beef and mix it up with shredded lettuce for a kind of taco salad ( works for me.
), Same with the chili. Mix it with shredded lettuce & eat it on a low carb, 100 cal or less wrap for a burrito... |
I do put the food onto a regular plate. In fact, I will often pour the entree over a slice of multi-grain bread for my Low-GI carb..
This evening, I had the pot roast, poured over a bed of Cous Cous with broccoli as my vegetable. The plate was full and so was I when I was done... |
I put all of the dinners on a plate. I just think it makes dinner seem more like dinner...
Man, and I thought we were supposed to put them in the freezer so they don't go bad..
... |
What if you are eating dinner in front of the TV? Then what?..
I always take the meals out of the plastic container and put them on a plate BEFORE microwaving. It is best never to microwave anything in a plastic container. The plastic can leach into your food when it is heated...
