First off, Does Medifast Diet work over time? Or is it a waste of time? Thanks for any response. My 2nd question... Now is really is the time to shed our winter "stuff" and emerge as our BEST selves!!!!!. |
Yes sir! but... you might want to make sure and wait for another member here to confirm my answer as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you email the Medifast guys because they can give you help better...

We did not escape the snow ... just have 4 inches of the wet heavy white stuff ... It sure looks pretty but those flowers and green grass looked wayyyyy prettier!.
I am off to the Gala event in Boston this afternoon that I have been working on. $250 a ticket. It is for a school that works with ecomonically disadvantaged middle schoolers in the roughest parts of Boston. Should be intersting playing with thte big boys there ... Unfortuntely I am still sick - massive head cold. I did cancel YogaDance this am to give myself a little bit of breathing room.. Hope you all have an awesome start to a new fresh clean slate month!. XOXOXO.. |
New month. New beginning..
What are your goals for the month?. What steps will you take to make them happen?. How do you stay accountable?. What can the team do to help you?.. |
Morning Melters!.
Pamela, I hope you get to feeling better so that you can enjoy the Gala that you've worked hard on. At $250/person, I 'm betting you'll be dressed up all fancy?! Thanks for starting the new thread and for always being a consistent person on this thread! Good for you for canceling Yoga today so that you can try to feel better for later today. Those dang head colds just plain wear you out!. Morning, Jane!. Stayed on points yesterday~that was day #3 staying on track and I will again today! I woke up thinking about supper and what I will make to stay on track~or as Pamela would say, I started my day with intentions!. So, yesterday evening I went to a Kids Consignment Sale~they have them in the spring and fall. I went to one a few years ago looking for clothes for Delaney, but thought they were overpriced for the brands/quality of clothes, so didn't come away with much. Thought I'd give it another try...Well, I found lots of clothes for Colby! Got his whole summer wardrobe pretty much for $70, plus a few things for Delaney. I got in line at 7:06pm (which was at the front door and wound all the way around all 3 walls of the building until the check-outs) and got in my car at 9pm-ugh! It was a CRAZY LONG line and I asked myself, as did DH, if it was really worth waiting. But I know I'd go to the store and even with deals would probably get him maybe 5-7 outfits for what I paid, so decided it was worth it. Got some Baby Gap things for $2-3 and a couple Gymboree. By the time I got home, I didn't get to eat supper until 10pm, which I didn't like, but was so hungry and didn't want to be hungry during the night and in the morning that I'd just eat without thinking.. Not much to do today. I need to straighten up the house and get things in order, but other than that we're home today.. What are your plans today? Weekend plans??. ~Amanda.. |
My goals: stick with being on my plan and writing things down and tracking.
Keep adding exercise in 3x/week. The team can just ask me point blank how I am doing...and keep encouraging like you all do!. Writing things down will keep me accountable... |
It's me...again! I really didn't want to, b/c sore from the other day, BUT, I exercised again!! WOOHOO! Bought DD some 1 lb. weights so she wouldn't keep trying to steal mine during the workout and she exercised with me!.
Off to my parents to see my brother once baby wakes up and eats! Got the kitchen (somewhat?) organized and in order...just little clutter piles here and there taken care of make a difference... |
Good afternoon, Melters!.
Found us on the SECOND PAGE!! Yikes! So far my day is going well. My 3:00 student canceled so I got to come home for a few hours before heading out to my show! I need to get to Kinko's to run off "free trial lesson" vouchers and more business cards. There are a couple of youngsters playing flute in the pit orchestra with me and boy oh boy do they need lessons! They are really sweet and all but I think I could really help them.. I know I said that "as the Church turns" had it's final episode but I just have to report that again today, things seem to thawing out with Paul. Fridays are his day off so if he comes in, he is in his scruffy clothes which I love. Anyway, in nursery school, we are going to be reading a book called "THe Kissing Hand" or something like that. So the teacher asked me what song I had picked out to go with it there is this really old song called "Gimme a Little Kiss" and I started singing it for her. And, as I often do, I was singing it as I left the school and walked out into the hallway and there was Paul sitting on the steps throwing a ball for his dog, Moses. He of course heard me and quipped something. It was really comfortable and I am just totally grateful that he does not think I am some kind of loon!. So I am home for a few hours and then I am off to play my show.. My goals for April are to stay 100% OP, to work my business plan like crazy, to do a major clean up of my house (which will mostly entail throwing out a lot of STUFF), work with my therapist intensely so when the time comes I will be deserving of membership in the prestigious and exclusive 5% CLUB!!. Cheers all!. I am grateful to this program and this group I can't begin to tell you how much!!. Jane.. |
Have I ever told you how much I appreciate you, Pamela?.
You're a rock star!. You're our best cheerleader. Thank you for encouraging us as we walk along this path to a healthy / thin lifestyle. You da bomb! XXOO Judy.. |
Jane - Movement is movement! Whether it's the gym, walking or step aerobics ... whatever it is ... it's all good, sista! So move the booty on that steppy and have fun doing it. So glad to hear you dodged the S*N*O*W bullet..
XXOO Judy.. |
Hi Amanda - GREAT JOB ... DAY 3 DOWN AND GOOD ... You did it two days ago, you did it one day ago, you did it yesterday ... YOU CAN DO IT AGAIN TODAY!!!.
DH and I are going out to dinner this evening using a gift card I received for my birthday from friends. Tomorrow I have a hair appointment to make it red again. Then there's a "family potluck" at church that I coordinate, so we're going to that. Then church on Sunday and that's all that's on our plate. I fly out Monday to KC for 3 days (short trip).. Have a great weekend! XXOO Judy.. |
AMANDA ... YOU ARE NOW AN EXERCISE MACHINE!!!!.
GREAT JOB ... KEEP IT UP!! XXOO Judy.. |
Pamela - You're making me think.
(LOL!), but here is my "plan" for April:. 1. Get down to 140 lbs. (I'm hanging too close to 145). This will entail:. A) Minimizing carbs. B) Eliminating sugar. C) Smaller portions. D) Report weight EVERY week on Wednesday or Thursday (accountability). 2. Exercise at least three times each week for a minimum of 30 minutes (up from 20).. A) Walk dogs or aerobic at gym for 20 minutes minimum. B) Use weights at home or at gym for 15-20 minutes minimum. C) Bring exercise DVD on ALL business trips ... and use it!. D) Report exercise EVER week on Monday (accountability). 3. Drink a minimum of 64 oz. of water EVERY day even weekends!. A) Plan ahead for times when I'm not at home.. B) Fill quart-sized water bottle every night and take to work every day. I guess that's enough to focus on ... too much more and I'll lose focus! XXOO Judy.. |
Good Evening, Melters!.
Back from the show and ready for bed! I teach tomorrow starting at 8:15. I teach straight till time to go to the show (at 2:00) and then one more hour after the show is over!. So I am going to get some shut eye!. Have a great night all!!. Jane.. |
Hi all...can I join this group?.
Well, I'm sure you know about me from the boards and my thingy LOL...... Anyways..I lost 101 pounds aso far and looking to lose the last 97 pounds til I reach my goal!.. |
Hey all! Sneakysteph....welcome! I dont think many of us venture out in the boards so not sure what your thingy is??! BUt congrats on such a great loss. Terrific progress -.
Tell us about yourself... |
Never had a chance to post today - Just finished watching a clever movie...Easy A. Entertaining. Kids are asleep and I am going to ice my knee...I think I overdid it on the exercise bike todayI actually added that to my repertoire and I am finding it quite enjoyable. Ten minutes on bike, 15 on elliptical, some rowing, weights.....two years ago who would have thought I 'd be so addicted to movement!.
Anyhow - how to reach my goal? I think I need to be more accountable too and that will probably be weighing in every week. It's always been a hard thing for me especially when I am up but I know it is one of the things that pushes me jto move forward. I just cant change the ticker LOL. We are going to Texas in a couple of weeks and I have let go of the whole " I am fatter than the last time they saw me" mentality....well I"m trying LOL. Counterproductive and silly. It has taken the pressure off. I am just going to keep doing what I am doing. Everyday trying my darndest and eventually I will get there.. I am off to bed folks. TOmorrow I promised Jolie I would take her for some warm weather gear.. M.. |
Welcome,.
Steph!. You will find this to be an incredibly supportive group where you can ask to be held accountable to your goals. A couple of us here are in the weight loss phase but the majority are in Maintenance having lost staggering amounts of weight. I find it truly inspirational to hang out here and I am sure you will as well. Congratulations on 100 lbs gone already! That is amazing!!. Good Morning, Melters!. Up on the early side because I have a busy day today! Teaching and the show from 8:15 - 5:00. I am in a bit of a quandary about my L&G. I think I told you that my grocery store is discontinuing Boca Burgers and I am finding the Morningstar Grillers to not be a suitable replacement. So I think I will try a tofu meal tonight. I am trying to be mostly vegetarian (with fish) - before Medifast I was trying to be vegan but have given that up until I get to Maintenance! Maybe I will make Pamela's fish/spinach/salsa for the week. I suspect it will reheat just fine.. OK - I am off! Have a wonderful OP weekend all!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
Welcome to the Melters group sneakysteph29!.
So, good for you to have lost so much! I have read your posts around the boards and you make me laugh! You are a straight forward gal and we like that here.. Like the others have said there are lots of positives here. We are a group of folks trying to lose, losing, and those who have succeeded and are keeping it off. You will fit in nicely here... |
Goals for the month of April.
: Keep going with what works for me and don't let me or anyone sabotage my efforts the entire month!. Steps toward acheivement. : Daily reminders, staying organized so I won't face any surprises, always on the look out for "well intenders.". Accountability:. Stay intuned to what my head and body is telling me at all times. Read and reread the Medifast plan as written so that I am doing it right.. Team help. : Please remind me to move more. I just tune it out usually. I know once I start I will keep doing it but I need to start. Also, please keep me in the loop when I am MIA. Just a shout out means so much!. Thankx Pamela for being a great positive influence on us all. Helps make me a better Medifast person too!. Thanks Judy for posting the exercise sheet! Love it!.. |
Good morning!!!.
Running out the door here - class and then 11-3 at an Autism Awareness Fair ~ performing twice there and then I come home and collapse. Event yesterday was fab but I am worn out ... chug, chug, chug....... |
Good Morning!.
JodiNY. ~sounds like a good plan for April. I know for me the hardest part with exercising is getting the clothes on to do it, b/c I think about it a lot, but just don't do it. But I did it two times this week, which makes me feel good...just knowing I did it. You can do it, too! Maybe try to start with just 20 minutes, it's not as daunting as an hour commitment right off the bat.. Another busy day for. Pamela. !. Michele. ~one of the baby eagles has hatched...two more to go! Have you watched them at all? I've checked in on them here adn there, but haven't seen the baby yet... |
Welcome to the Melting MFers, Sneaky Steph! Hmmmmmm .... inquiring minds want to know why you are sneaky.
!. I'm the same as Michele ... I don't get around the boards much at all except our Melting MFers discussion grouptime is a factor. Soooooo, what IS your "thingy"? Inquiring minds want to know that, too!. This is a great group that is committed to encouraging, exhorting, and nudging MFers into success. I think the goal of everyone on this board is to become a member of the elite "5% Club" where you have lost your weight and kept it off for at least one year. We have a few that qualify and I'm on my way ... eight more months and I have kept my weight off for a year and I get into the Club!. One thing we have all learned is that it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you stay in contact on the boards with a group of people you can be accountable to ... and this will help ensure that you are successful. Keep up the great work ... 100 down and less than 100 to go .... GREAT JOB ... CONGRATULATIONS!.. |
Jodi - GREAT goals for April. Let's keep each other accountable this month! SUCCESS WILL BE OURS ... We are the MELTING MFers!.
XXOO Judy.. |
Good Evening, Melters!.
Had a great day today. When it was done, I went to the grocery store to get tofu and fish well, they had NO tofu and there was no one behind the fish counter. SO I bought some "all natural, no antibiotics or growth hormone" chicken breasts and fixed Pamela's recipe with spinach and salsa really yummy!! I also bought the vegetables I would fix with tofu so I will pick some up at a different store tomorrow.. This evening I am going to start work on the dreaded taxes I guess I have put it off long enough!!. I am in Mr. Jim Scales withdrawal so I have decided that, even though I need to be at church at 9, if I am at the gym the moment it opens at 7, I can walk the treadmill for 40 minutes, collect my roses (I am getting pretty cocky about those roses!!) and be home in time for a quick shower and be on my way to church by 8:30..... so I had best get to bed at a decent hour as well!. Have a great evening, all!!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
Hi Melters:.
I went to sleep at 4:00 a.m. this morning after returning home from San Francisco at 2:00 a.m. So I am dragging today. I will be sending you a private message regarding my trip to San Francisco as it was "quite" a trip.. Just wanted to check in and let you know I'm home.. Renie.. |
Welcome home,.
Renie!. Get some good rest today!!. Good morning, Melters!. I woke up really early this morning so I have a load of laundry in and soon as it is dry, I will head for the gym. I woke up with "cleaning" energy I am not good about staying on top of junk mail when it comes in I set it down and then it piles up around me drowning me - so this morning I have been trying to pick up the clutter and get it into it's right place (not ALL of it is junk! Some of it does require some attention!) - getting rid of the clutter is Step 1 in trying to clean my house - which is one of my April goals (I almost wrote February not TOO far behind the times, am I??). Have a great day, all!. If I have time when I get back (and if I get any roses) I will check in!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
WOO! HOO! Two more roses and UNDER 180!!!.
Cheers! Off to church now!! HA!!.. |
My dear I need to borrow your Mr Jim Scales!.
I love. Yellow. Roses.. So very glad for you!!!.. |
Hi everyone -.
So sorry so late today! I got up late and had to rush off to church ( where I got to give a speech as a saloon girl for the auction this week - FUN!) and then had to pick Abigail up from a sleep(less) over with friends and then home again.... Here I am and just trying to clean up out stuff ... here is an eamil I got from someone I donated clothes to:. Hi Pamela,. Thank you SO much for the clothes!!! It felt like Christmas all over again. Actually better than Christmas : ). Today I get to go with my daughter to an open house at one of the colleges that she may be attending and now I can feel confident and not self concious of what I am wearing. I can't thank you enough!!! You are a God send.. And a very thoughtful person. : ). Please understand this is NOT to toot my own horn but to share with you the power of giving. This inspires me to clean out the stuff I don't use and give it to those who reallyreally need it! Off to clean ...... |
That's wonderful, Pamela! And no, it does not sound like you are tooting your own horn. I bet it made you feel so good, though, knowing how your giving affected her!..
Waiting for baby to wake up and eat before heading to the in-laws for a while. I may have to rouse him myself as he's been stirring off and on for almost an hour and is still sleeping!..
Good Afternoon Melters:.
I'm trying to catch up at home and on all your postings. I love reading all the plans you are making for your weight loss successes.. I'm going to try and remember to "ask" all of you how you are doing each day in achieving your goals!. Jane, what can I say. What a treat to watch your ticker move down each week and to hear/read the excitement in your words and the changes in your life.. JodyNY, I enjoyed reading your positive steps and plans. I think once you put it in writing and read each day, those roses will be showing up! What type of "moving" do you plan to do today? Is the weather better for any outside walks?. Amanda, great job you are doing on the point system. Hope you had a restful weekend after all the company you have been having. Remember, even losing ounces each week is so important. Keep up your positive spirit and get those naps in when the kids sleep.. Michele, how many errands did you do in one day? Are you nuts?? I do make a list when I have many errands and check them off as I complete, but I don't think I've done more than 12 in one day. Maybe because some were shopping for clothes and that took longer.. Judy, did you do okay at last night's dinner after your weight loss this past week? Inquiring minds want to know!. Also, wishing you safe travels on your short trip this week.. Pamela - "our mini tornado." Hope you have a fun day and are able to get some rest before your busy week begins.. Nancy - How are you? Congrats on losing more weight.. Between you, Jody and Jane, the Melters are going to open a florist shop.. Keith - Thinking good thoughts of you and your daughter. Hoping things are going well.. When do you start the 5/1 plan?. Welcome Steph. Please share some info about yourself. Looking forward to getting to know you.. Jodi - Miss you. Hope you stop by soon to say hello and let us know how you are doing.. Miss Jo too. So many great memories of both of you on this thread.. I'm still tired and my brain is fuzzy. I hope I didn't forget anyone in my shout-outs. If so, I'm sorry. This is a new thread and I can't refer back to the older postings.. My plan for April:. 1) Stay on 5/1 plan until Easter then use week 4 of transition;. 2) Start meditating each day;. 3) Do stretching exercises (baby steps);. 4) Continue to use "moisturizer" so I will look. Beautoofuul each day!. Renie.. |
My son DIL and cute 7mth old GD are gone. Took them to the ferry in Seattle at 6:15 this am. I am feeling very tired as I cam down with a cold on Thursday. The day they came in! Why does it happen like that?? We had my 4yr old GD birthday party at our home on Saturday. It was quite a lot of fun with both my kids and their families all together. It is so great that me DIL and daughter get along so great.
We had cake, pizza, ice cream, lasagna, etc...I did not have any of that. I did have two glasses of wine in two days though. I am totally ok with that as I did not eat any other carbs. I was not OP for three days and I still lost some weight. Time will tell when I weigh in on Thursday. Did my menu plan for the week and them DH and I went grocery shopping. The rest of the day I have been laying on the couch. I have little or no energy. I do have to work every day this week so I will be having some long hours so planning my meals makes it easier to keep on track.. April-That is another month of starting fresh. My goal/intention is to stay OP every day, drink 96 oz of water and exercise three times a week.. Hope that everyone had a great weekend and ready to GO this week... |
Good evening, Melters!.
I have had a great couple of days and today was no exception Roses from Mr. Jim Scales, great performances with the choir and the flute choir in church Paul's sermon was awesome but what impressed me even more was that he apologized at the beginning of the service that he would be leaving the moment the service was over to drive to Rochester, NY (6.5 HOURS) so he could be at Eastman School of Music to hear his niece's graduate recital what a fabulous uncle!. After church,[ I taught some lessons, vacuumed the studio and met my friend Sharon for a walk at one of my favorite places where there is a frog pond with millions of spring peepers deafening!! and then dinner.. Now I am going to try and do an hour of taxes and an hour of library work for the Norwalk Symphony before heading to bed!. Nancy. - that is so great that you can host a party with all that non-OP food and stay away from it. I am not sure I could do that so I play the avoidance game!. Renie. - glad to hear you are resting up from your travels. Pamela. - your schedule makes me feel tired and I lead a fairly hectic life!. Here is the picture and article about me that I had the interview for on Thursday. He got an awful lot of facts wrong but it is still a nice article!. <a href="http://www.thehour.com/story/502112/">Making sweet music for a living</a>. Have a great evening all!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
Jodi - I think everyone wants to borrow Mr. Jim Scales ... we're all having a love affair with that wonderful guy! XXOO Judy..
Pamela - ABSOLUTELY ... give it away ... it's like sowing seeds of kindness or sowing seeds of love or sowing seeds of blessings ... just sowing into someone else's life so that they also can grow and bloom and become all that they were meant to be. Just a little thing to help them along the way. I posted tons clothes of the bulletin board here, gave some to my sisters, and then still had garbage bags full to give to Goodwill.
Not to mention how great it was to get rid of the "fat" clothes that made me look dumpy and fat. Awesome that you were able to share clothes with someone you knew who benefited so greatly from them. XXOO Judy.. |
Oh my, so much to catch up on. I will try to read more tonite..
Happy bday Amanda!!!!!. Kids are in the bath and I need to get them out and ready for bed. Will try to get back before my bed beckons me.. M.. |
Renie - Say it ain't so that you have not been using moisturizer every day.
OMG my skin would be .... I can't even think of words to describe what my skin would be like if I didn't use moisturizer!!. Tomorrow is my "official" start of my April commitments. I was exercised challenged this weekend. DH and I went out to dinner Friday night and then a movie. We rarely go to a movie so my original plan was for us to go to the gym after dinner ... movie won out! Then on Saturday I had so many errands starting with my hair appt. at 8am and I was non-stop all day getting ready for the potluck at church at 6pm that I never got exercise in. Then on Sunday (today) the guy finished our new kitchen cabinet (I'll post photos soon) and after spending my $50 gift certificate from Macy's (Macy's was SCREAMING my name with the gift card in my wallet) I got home and we've been trying to put the kitchen back together and reorganize things to fill the new cabinets. So tomorrow ... new day ... new beginnings ... new goals ... new commitments ... new focus! XXOO Judy.. |
Jane - Link doesn't seem to work and it also looks like we need some sort of log-in? Would that be correct? XXOO Judy..
Amanda - Abby was still up and we checked on the site - two hatched so far!!! We were able to "rewind" and see it on youtube..
Jolie and Jordan will likely be equally as fascinated when I show it to them tomorrow.. Jordan's stye is horrible now...really relaly ugly and huge - we went bike shoping today and a little boy couldn't stop staring at him. So first thing tomorrow I will call the doc and get over there. He may need to have it lanced....oh that darn alarmist pediatrician might have been right! I am hoping for antibiotics.. I am off to bed girls - gym gym gym.. Now what I have to do is be more mindful mindful mindful of my food too.. M.. |
Happy Birthday our dear Amanda!.
Is this your 29th or 30th? or are you younger?. Jane, I was able to read the first page of the article and saw your picture. However, you had to join or be a member to read full article. It was a very complimentary piece. Did they do a video of you playing?. Judy, I do moisturize everyday! That was just a joke about maintaining my beauty.. Pamela, your sharing of clothes with others doesn't surprise me. That is "just you." You are a caring and generous person.. Nancy, so happy to read you were able to enjoy time with your entire family. Happy birthday to your DGD.. I had to smile about the wine..........so many of us Melters enjoy our wine. I live 90 minutes from Napa and have a large wine room.. Michele, miss you and love your personal message!. I saw my great nieces today (teenagers) and gave them a hand treatment from the products I purchased in San Francisco. They loved it so I ended up giving them the entire kit. I will have to order some more on-line.. I'm looking forward to staying home this week. I do have a dinner date on Wednesday. We take my Aunt and Uncle out every year for my Aunt's birthday. She will be 88 yrs young.. Have a great Monday and remember your April commitments.. Renie.. |
Thank you for the birthday wishes! DH made me steak dinner last night and pancakes this morning. Delaney decorated the pancakes with strawberry shortcake figurines (trying to copy the one I made her for her bday!), which was very sweet and thoughtful!! We went to the in-laws in the afternoon. I'm heading to bed as soon as my show is over...was up during the night with DD running a temp...she has a cold and they always come with a fever for her..
Renie~ I am, sad to say,. 30. Today...I hate the sound of that dirty, dirty word...it should be called twenty-thirty or something where I can still keep the twenty in front!.. |
Ahhhhh, yes, good bye 20's ... hello 30's. BUT I have to say I never looked back. I felt so much more "settled" in my 30's than 20's and never wanted to go back there again. Of course for you those are the years that you gave birth to your first two children, so there's a different fondness of them I would think. Sleep well. XXOO Judy..
Renie - You're messing with my head (LOL!). I take you too seriously.
Sooooo glad to hear you are moisturizing every day ... whew!!!. I will have to give it a go again on Jane's article and just sign up. Don't want any more junk mail than I already get, but I can always cut it short.. Personally, I think you gave them the products so you could shop on line. I truly believe we would be "dangerous" together at a mall. .. APRIL COMMITMENTS HERE WE COME!!! XXOO Judy.. |
Michele - One of the ladies at church also had a HUGE stye (she actually posted a pic of it on her FB page!). Makes me think of Jordan's being so huge and ugly. I used to get styes when I was younger but I've never had one as an adult that I can remember. Do they know how you get them? Inquiring minds want to know (LOL!). XXOO Judy..
Jane - That is a great article about your life with music. I can also tell from the picture that are definitely losing weight (went back to your MyPage and looked at your phots and it is very obvious!). So what parts of the article are pure hooey??? XXOO Judy..
Just a reminder, Melters, I will be MIA for most of tomorrow (in flight) and then just about all of Tuesday (meeting all day and then dinner function at night), then flying back Wednesday, so I should be on the boards without any problem on Wednesday..
APRIL COMMITMENTS ... WE'RE READY TO ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS!.. |
I apologize for the sign-up requirement for the Norwalk Hour and do cancel it once you read the article because they send out lots of e-mails. The other thing is that if you are on facebook, you can go to my "Wilton Music Studios" page and "like" it and see the article there I don't think you have to sign up to read it there. The guy got most of my quotes wrong but the worst things were that he said I work at the Congregational Church in New Canaan and I really work at the First Presbyterian Church (Paul would not be amused!!) and he said that Julius Baker was trained at Juilliard when I never talked about where he trained it is where he taught. He actually trained at Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. And he got the name of the New York Philharmonic wrong. YIKES! But the gist of the article was correct about all the stuff I do and the stuff about the Norwalk Symphony is accurate - he must have lifted it from somewhere else because we did not talk much about the history of the Symphony at all!.
And yes, the picture does show the significant weight loss. My problem now is that people are starting to tell me that I should not be looking to lose another 55 lbs blah blah blah. Why is it that people have so many opinions and are SOOO willing to jump in and tell you what to do and what not to do!! My friend Sharon is the worst one. She is the one I had to forbid from constantly telling me to lose weight and now I am going to have to forbid her from telling me NOT to lose weight. What gives here?? The Medifast site suggested my proper weight is 118 and I am shooting for 125. I admit, I look (and feel) the way I did when I weighed 160 six years ago but I think that is because I am exercising and maybe the weight is lurking around in different places. Off to see my friend Jim!. Cheers all!. Jane.. |
Good morning Melters and a hello to Jane!!!.
Goals for the month. - 3 X a week weight resistent training ... Stay OP. Steps to take. - Scheduling my time and making myself go ~ I tend to just want to do classes and I really need to up my weight work. I also won 3 sessions with a personal trainer so I will see how I like their style and if I will pursue them more long term.. How will I stay accountable?. I will be reporting in here. Both staying on plan and weights.. What can the team do?. Ask if I don't tell. To me the silence says a lot.. I am also planning on slowing down and taking care of myself more this month though it is a crazy month ~ surprise. .. Tomorrow I have a massage scheduled and will be scheduling a facial for the next week. Shhh... I have wednesday completely clear and I am taking a day for me to just do me things!!!!. But now I am off to school to meet and greet a performer and then rehearse with Trevor's class - I do love my life and I am feeling much better too!!! Yeah!.. |

Morning....gooooood mooornin'.
So I had a revelation...well not really ...just realized that MY WAY IS NOT WORKING!. :O NO! ( large gasp from the audience members).. I am the Queen at playing games...oh I work out it's ok....well it isn't.. Today I weighed in at....gulp 136.4. Started my day with oatmeal and commited to getting back to basics. Warm weather coming up. I have given up on my "goal" to be back to myself by the time we go to Texas in a week and a half...isn't happening. BUT I can be on plan and feeling better about myself so here goes.. My commitments to you....Weighing in once a week - really hard one for me but it has to be done.. Continue my exercise. Finding some time for me - my dad the other day said I was crazy to volunteer to chaperone my kids' Hebrew school trip....that I am burning the candle at both ends. He is right in many aspects and I need to have some more time for myself not including a day spent running family errands.. Ok got a doc appointment in 15 minutes.. Off I go.. Have a wonderful day folks.. Michele.. |
The great Ahha moment - don't you just love them? Taking time for yourself is so important for our good physical and mental well being .....
Just a reminder my beauty you are yourself no matter what you weigh... I understand wanting to feel better and get the "extra" off but please, please remember the scale is just a number not an assesssment of self worth - ok?.
We love you no matter what the scale says!!!!!.. |
Good evening, Melters!.
Well JUST because I was having a good day, and JUST because I was starting to get back into my business head, and JUST because I was getting ready to face my finances head on, I decided I could not leave well enough alone and I decided to have a CAR ACCIDENT!! It was totally my fault and I just can't WAIT to see what my insurance premiums are going to do! Let me say up front that I have NEVER caused an accident in 40 years of driving but today I sailed right through a red light (I was looking too far in the distance and did not see it!) and a lady smacked right into me. No one was hurt and her car suffered minimal damage - my car, however, will be in the body shop for a MONTH and I am in a rental for that long (ka-ching). My insurance does cover alot but as I said I am sure my premiums are going to sky-rocket. AND I have no one to blame but myself BUT I stayed OP through it all. I am NOT happy with myself!!. So I hope you all had a much better day than I did! I am home safe and sound and am going to do some work here before turning in.. Good night all!. Jane.. |
Oh Jane that sux!!! Welcome to the car accident club....not one you want to be a member of. Luckily it all can be fixed and no one was hurt..
Pamela.....MUAH!. M.. |
Be gentle with yourself and really make sure you are ok ... tomorrow or next week you may be sore - listen to your body..
I am glad you are OK though... |
Thanks, Pamela I actually am somewhat sore and am sure I will be even more so tomorrow - the worst part, though, is that I feel so STUPID!! I am trying to not let it put me in a really bad place. Thanks for your words!.
Good night!. Jane.. |
Dear ((Jane)):.
Definition of ACCIDENT:. A: An unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance. B: lack of intention or necessity : chance <met by accident rather than by design>.. Just so happy to read you didn't get seriously hurt.. Don't be too hard on yourself.. Please make sure you see your doctor if you wake up not feeling well.. Yes, it will be a hassle with insurance and body shops, but it is a material thing. You and the other driver are the important part.. Renie.. |
My dear Michelle:.
Yes, it sucks how quickly the weight comes back on.. Yes, you will get re-focused and start losing the lbs.. Yes, you do so much for others and leave yourself for last.. We have all the faith and will be here to help in anyway.. I think we should all post our weight each week to keep us on track. I'm sneaky and add the weight then get on plan before I have to change my ticker!. How is Jordan's eye?. Renie.. |
So Jordan may need to have his eye lanced. For a kid his age it would require a hospital visit and being put under anesthesia. We are hoping it doesn't come to that. The doc wants to give it until thursday or friday with some steroid cream and see if that does the trick. I was so late after his doc appointment and bringing in the scrip that I called into work and told them I'd do a makeup for today on thursday..
Ran some quick errands, got an xray of my chest as part of my cardiologists whole plan and came home to have a quick cup of coffee and 45 minutes.before I had to get my little boy....got a call from the school nurse that Abby wasn't feeling well and picked her up LOL.. Never dull! But life is still good.. M.. |
Good evening Melters! It was a rough travel day. My flight from Houston to KC was delayed a couple of hours so I got in rather late. I did pretty good with my food and used bars for lunch and snacks. But, the exercise was a problem because I was picked up at the airport when I got in (6:30 KC time) and we went straight to dinner and now I'm working while I post! But My goal is to get some exercise in tonight. I did a "sprint" in the airport, so I did get some cardio in.
.. Jane. - I hear you on the people who think you've lost enough weight when you know dang well you haven't. One person at work the skinniest person I know was the person who kept telling me I looked fine ... go figure. She's probably a size 2 and I'm a size 8. What the heck is that about? Don't know and don't care anymore. So sorry to hear about your car accident. And in all of that there's this NSV ... you are still OP even through the trauma of it all. Like Pamela said, listen to your body because it went through a shocking jolt and you may wake up over the next few days and feel really sore.. Pamela. - A day off for you? Wonders never cease. Get rested and rest well. You deserve and have earned the small break.. Michele. - So the stye story still is with us! Poor little guy. I hope and pray that whatever they give him works so he doesn't have to have it lanced. Too traumatic I would think. I like your commitments and your honesty, Michele. We need to be honest with each other if we want to get this right, be successful, and become members of the awesome 5% club.. Renie. - I think your idea to post our weight each week is a good one. I know everyone struggles with doig that, but it definitely encourages accountability. EVERYONE NEEDS TO REMEMBER .... posting weight is not for guilt ... it's not for condemnation ... it's not so you can feel bad about yourself ... The purpose is be accountable for where you want to be in the future. That's why people who are in accounability relationships with weight loss are more successful than those who aren't. Truth be known, each one of us knows (without getting on the scale) whether we have gained or lost weight ... isn't that true? So you're just recording the facts, ma'am ... nothing but the facts!. Everyone have a wonderful Tuesday. I'll be in a meeting all day and then a group dinner tomorrow night so I doubt I'll post as it will be late before I get back to my room (I think). If that changes THEN you'll hear from me. XXOO Judy.. |
Good morning, Melters!.
Thanks for the great comments and feedback about the accident. I have had a good night's sleep and am NOT sore this morning (miraculously) so I am going to visit Jim Scales. I think a good sweat will help me!. I liked what. Judy. Said about weighing in not being about feeling guilty. My therapist wrote me something when I was having a rough time in the last two weeks that might help here. She said that I must not interpret my emotional state as a sign of damage but an indication of where we need to go in the therapeutic journey. So applying that to the weight loss - a number on the scale is not a sign of being in the wrong but where the next step of the journey needs to take us. For me, no roses from Jim means I need to exercise more (I had only gone 3 times last week), drink more. For others, especially you all on Maintenance, it means exercise and portion control, for still others it means a trip back to 5-1. So I am looking forward to a trip to the gym!. Have a wonderful OP day, friends. Thanks for listening to my vent last night about the accident!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
Good morning everyone!.
So glad you are feeling OK this AM Jane!. I am off to the gym, then teach a class and then a massage. WHi si that woman taking care of herself?. I promise I will post my weigh in numbers each week - not my weight but the loss (and hopefully not any gain) each week. That for me is huge accountability! So count me in. Good, bad and ugly ~ Monday I will reveal.. The scale has been playing many, mnay head games with me these days .... SO I need to put together a conferance workshop - it is entitles: Helping Your Soul to Breathe ... any ideas????.. |
Sorry to hear about your accident Jane but glad everyone is OK!.
The cars can be fixed!. Sounds like folks here are gearing up for the spring and summer melt down.. Winter and the cabin fever are terrible on me but I managed to get thru it OK this year because of Medifast. I may not have lost much during those long cold months but I maintained what I lost and for me that is magic.. I am gearing up for losing now and the only thing that can stop me is ME!. I am so happy for longer daylight and SUN once in awhile.. I am happy for the chance to get this medifast program right this year.. I am so happy for maybe some big changes coming soon or at least the chance to travel more.. I am so happy that my oldest DS is a wonderful man who gets it and will have a happy life.. I am so happy my youngest DS is finally getting it and is working hard to find that happy life!. I am happy to get started on moving much more than before.. I am happy to be looking for an automobile for me!!.. |
Thank JodiNY! You are right - the car can be fixed. And people are telling me that since this is the first accident I have ever caused in 40 years of driving - and only the second accident I have ever had in 40 years of driving (and since I have been paying premiums to the same company for 40 years) - that maybe just maybe my premiums won't skyrocket!.
I loved what you wrote about being happy that spring is coming to your neck of the woods - I grew up in up-state PA and went to college in Ithaca so I remember well how wonderful spring felt after so much winter!!. I also love your gratitude list I need to do that, too. Especially the day after a car accident.. Have a great day all! I am feeling better but you should see me driving now at EVERY light I say "The light is green the light is green...) People around me must think I am nuts I am driving like the little old lady my son is always accusing me of being! Ha!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
Just got back from an intense "massage" session where she worked with the energy blocked in my legs. The old stuff that doesn't want to move on. It is all root chakra stuff from childhood... I never, ever felt safe as a child and just need to acknowledge those feelings so I can move on ....
The work is never easy but the breakthroughs are AMAZING!!!!. Abigail is just getting home ..... |
Hiya folks...another fly by from me beofre the kiddos get off the bus...well one kiddos - thoe other is at Brownies and will need a pick up shortly after the first arrives..
No make up day at work for me today - wew were supposed to have an audit and my bosses didnt want the therapy room to be too crowded...didnt get the email that it was cancelled and instead will do a makeup day on Thursday.. Feeling achy and ugh today and feel like my body is fighting something - perhaps it is it's way of telling me to slow down....but how do we?. How do full time wroking ladies do it? There is so much on our plates - family, home, work, etc - at times it really becomes overwhelming. I am so so hoping Jordan's eye thing gets better bc I so desparately want to get away and would hate to cancel our plans.. Ok folks - enough griping....JodiNY - I love your gratitude list adn I will put together one bc I am very grateful - just not feeling the umph right this moemtn. Missed my morning gym which that added with the gloom doesnt help my mood - I need those endorphines.!!. M.. |

Hi Melters: Maddie just left and I have so much paperwork to do but I wanted to stop by..
I'm in the middle of switching our large homeowners policy that includes lots of hubby's "toys." So I shopping between two agents and it's driving me nuts. Since I was in the field and know coverages, I have to remind them what to include so I can compare quotes "apples to apples.". Also, my husband will be audited by our Workers Comp carrier and I'm helping him put paperwork together.. Quick shout-outs:. JodiNY - I "loved" reading your happiness post. Very uplifting and positive. YAY, for getting another vehicle.. What type of car do you want?. Judy - Yeah, you busted me. Can you imagine you and I shopping for a day? Our credit cards would get worn out and our wallets would be empty. Plus we would have to reward ourselves with a bottle of wine after our long day of shopping! I love that Nordstrom's conciege holds your packages for you until the end of the day. Costa Mesa Mall is probably the ideal place for a meet-up.. Michele - Hope Jordan eye improves today!! Poor little guy.. Also, if you can't get to the gym, you can always get your endorphins from your "second" best way of exercising!!. Jane - Yes, you will be very cautious for quite a while after an accident. I like your idea of just thinking of "the next step" and going forward. Any roses today?. Pamela - A massage sounds wonderful. I wanted to get one in San Francisco but timing wouldn't allow. Are you going to start going more often? Please don't get offended or mad at me, but why don't you post your actual weight each week? It is your choice but I was just curious. You are a Medifast success story and you should be proud of what you have accomplished.. Amanda - How are you doing? Did you get your exercise done today?. Nancy - I know you are busy working long hours. Are you back on plan after the weekend?. Jodi - When are we going to hear from you again? Miss you.. Okay, need to call some insurance agents. Ugh!. I will weigh-in on Monday and post my weight. I'm going to do Mondays so I will behave on the weekends.. BBL.. Renie.. |
Renie - I tend to get a monthly massage ... luxury is when I get 2 in the same month.
My weight is just something I have always held close to me ... given my job as health coach I do not want to have people get caught up in my numbers. My husband knows my weight and it took decades to reveal that one ... more food for thought ~ why I give so power to the number .... I hope you include me in your shopping trips ... I am well seasoned and really think I can hold my own with you two though I can practice the craft if you think I need to. I am off to Bunko... |
Good Evening Melters!.
Hello. Pamela. , my ever dependable cheerleader! Hello. Michele. , hope Jordan's eye gets better soon!. All other Melters. - I have been lurking, so I feel like I know you!. I am tiptoeing in because I don't want to jinx myself. I have been "on plan" for 5 days in a row! I've lost 9 lbs. so far (though I usually do have a great first week - the highest being a 16 lb. loss)! I have my daughter's wedding in NC on May 7th and I want to look as good as I can! Yes, I probably should have started a lot sooner, but my mind just wasn't in the right place! I am feeling enthusiastic and optimistic right now that I CAN DO THIS!. This group is always so supportive, I hope you don't mind my popping back in! Time to eat again!.. |
My dear Mary you are always.
SO. WELCOMED. Here!!! One day at a time and this is. YOUR TIME. I can just feel it!!!!.. |
LOVELY MARY!!!!! SO GOOD TO "SEE " YOU HERE!!!!.
Renie I had to giggle at your post bc you know me so well!!! Yup - there are definitely alternative forms of exercise for me!. I can also envision so clearly, you and Judy shopping together.....I'd be there with you gals but frankly I think you would both wear me out with your shopping stamina!.. |
This is just going to be a quick note:.
I am still and work and am feeling like crap (physically). I caught a cold on Thursday (yes the day my family came to visit) and am still not doing very well. I have a very busy work schedule this week and am working every day. Today is going to be a 12-13 hr day and Thursday will be even longer. I am complaining like a baby cause I don't fell well. I will check in tomorrow... |
Good Morning, Melters!.
I went to bed quite early last night and woke up around midnight thinking I would have trouble sleeping the rest of the night but the next thing I knew, the alarm was going off so I hope the good night's rest will help my outlook on life today!. The stupid car accident has send me back into my funk but I am going to go see Mr. Jim Scales and see if he can help me feel better. No roses yesterday - I seem to be a tad stuck at 44.4 lbs off (not that I am complaining mind you being under 180 is MIRACULOUS for me!!) I will check back in if I have some roses when I get back from the gym!. Welcome. Mary. - I look forward to getting to know you. Lurking around the boards is a good thing and these Melters are an awesome group.. Cheers all!. Jane.. |
Morning all!.
Nancy I hope you are feeling better - those long hours certainly don't help you rest up.. Jane you have been going along on a quick ride with Medifast - there are times when you go slow and steady - hope it doesn't discourage you bc you are still going in the right direction.. Jordan had a nightmare so was in our bed at 1 am - Kid likes to sleep sideways - comfy for him - not so much for me and hubby! LOL. Need to get his little tush up bc I have my first unpleasant Wednesday kids today. I love most of my kids....really do....but this one has his mom sitting there while he gets physical and destroys the room. This is a kid who is actulaly being discharged in June bc he doenst have any therapy needs.....needs some dsicipline!. Ok folks. Have a great one.. Michele.. |
I hope you feel better soon..
Keep drinking the fluids and rest when you can!. It is OK to complain to us! Take care... |
HI.
Michele. You are absolutely right that I can't be complaining if the scale slows down - I have had a miraculous weight loss so far and I will be patient through the slower times - I have made a commitment to 5/1 until Oct 1 or until I reach goal, whichever comes first so when things slow down, I look at the long view!. BUT today I don't have to because Mr. Jim Scales greeted me with. TEN ROSES. !! I am down another pound. And yesterday, just to stay motivated, I measured my waist and hips - I have lost 7 inches off the waist and 5 off the hips so I am very happy about that.. It is a real turn of events for me that when my finances and the rest of my work life were good, I would say "If only I could lose the weight, I would be so happy" and now that I am losing the weight I say "If only I could get my business back up and humming along, I would be so happy" and I am sure that when the weight is down and the business is back to humming, I will say "If only so-and-so would like me, I would be so happy" I guess there is no pleasing me!! HA!!. Have a great day all!.. I think today I am going to follow. JodiNY's. Lead and try to be grateful for all the good things in my life - and then try on the Serenity prayer to just work on changing the things I can!. Cheers all!. Jane.. |
Serenity Prayer.
God grant me the serenity. To accept the things I cannot change;. Courage to change the things I can;. And wisdom to know the difference.. Living one day at a time;. Enjoying one moment at a time;. Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;. Taking, as He did, this sinful world. As it is, not as I would have it;. Trusting that He will make all things right. If I surrender to His Will;. That I may be reasonably happy in this life. And supremely happy with Him. Forever in the next.. Amen... |
I am just doing a lot of nothing this am and it feels good though I really SHOULD get myself to the gym.
Then I am meeting a friend for lunch and then going to see the movie Limitless.... My day of nothingness ..... |
Good Morning Melters!.
Down another 3 lbs. this morning! Oh how I love the first week!. Thank you. Melters. For welcoming me back!. Jane. - When your "fashion advisor" told you about Vit E, you said to mix it (as best you can) with a little water. What do you use to apply it to your face and neck? Fingers? Cottonball? And was it morning or night? Or could it be both? I get the "turkey neck" starting within the first 20 lbs. down. And my skin on my face runs very dry.. Looking at another great day today!.. |
Hi Girls, Been out of the loop. I have been good, focused and aware of ME!!! Official 8th week weigh in this morning down -3! Last week no loss, didn't stress over it, just let it go and I went on with my plan!!! FEELING GOOD!!! Hope everyone is well here!..
Hi all,.
No time to read and catch up at the moment, but will later. I'm with Pamela, I will post my loss for the week on Wednesday (my weigh in day), but not gonna put my actual weight! Sorry Charlies! Anyway, I lost two (could almost say 3, but will put it towards next week!) pounds last week. I have lost 4 pounds total...not going to dwell that it's not as much as I want, but just keep plucking along.. Just wanted to say 'hi'. Have a great day!.. |
Hello all!.
Sondra! Great job - 8 weeks down and nose to the grindstone!. I am taking a little break from my darling Jolie and her homework....she comes home and can be such a bear and homework can be unbearable so I told her to call me once she had a rest and could talk to me with kindness. I even told her to go play a little and come back to homework in a little while but she is determined to get it over with now....just like her mama.. Oh there is the call!. M.. |
Hi again,.
Having a good day. DD went with gma (my mom) to have a play date with a friend of my mom's and her granddaughter. So, baby and I had some quiet time together. My mom is in there now trying to feed baby a bottle. Been trying to give him a bottle a day for about a week now to get him OK with them before my mom watches him 2 day/week while I work. Poor guy is NOT happy about bottles and fights them as long as he can..breaks my heart when I know I could just nurse him and he'd be happy, but know it's for his own good. DD has had a cold for a good week, which baby has now caught as he was very stuffy this morning.. Think I will take the kids on a walk this afternoon as it is nice out! Sun is shining...yeah!!. I started work reports this week...man, does it stink to be starting things back up! I am just in a negative place about my time dwindling down before I'm back to my regular work schedule. In the big picture, I am very thankful for being able to take this much time off and have a good, flexible job to go back to.. How are you all? Sticking to your plan (5/1, maintenance?)?. JodiNY~I enjoyed reading the serenity prayer!.. |
Hi.
Mary!. I use my hands to apply the Vitamin E mixture to my face and neck. She told me to do it both night and morning. She also said I can mix it with my moisturizer so that is actually how I do it. I wash my face with mild soap in the morning and then mix the oil with my moisturizer and apply to my damp face. At night I just do it with water - but I have to admit I am not very good about doing it at night. I don't wear makeup so I don't feel the need to use it at night. Good early evening, Melters! I have just finished teaching for the day. I have to say that I have been extremely productive in the past few days with working on my business despite the car accident set back. I am drumming up some work and also doing some freebees - clinics at schools to get more students and a freebee for an alzheimers support organization. My guitarist and I have a nice program we take into assisted living places and the event will have lots of recreation therapists and activities directors there so I am hoping we get a lot of work out of it!. I have about a half an hour before I am going off to a spiritual class I am taking (gotta do something for me) so I am going to put together a few more brochures and get them ready to mail before I head out.. Cheers all!! Have a great evening!. Jane.. |
Jane - I love the wisdom from your therapist that you shared here. That can be so "freeing" to know that it's where the next step of the journey needs to take us. EXCELLENT advice ... now I just have to remember it.
XXOO Judy.. |
Jodi - You're going to get a car??? AWESOME! Now is your time ... you are postive and upbeat ... you will be the new Jodi this year! XXOO Judy..
Ha!ha!ha! Pamela, I think you'd give Renie and me a run for our money.
BTW, practice does make perfect.. |
Renie - The insurance agents probably start to hyperventilate when they hear your voice.
I feel sorry for any service writer that meets up with me when I bring our Ford truck in for service. I'm like their worst nightmare. I am so "demanding" because I know what they are supposed to do as part of their job and I know when they do a lousy job. I "caught" my writer in a lie, but didn't confront him about it. I wasn't very happy about it, though. So I had my DH bring the car in for the brakes and next maintenance service. He's so much nicer than I am and doesn't really know what to look for. I bet that guy was so happy it wasn't me. XXOO Judy.. |
HOLY MACKERAL!.
You lost 16 lbs. in one week???? Gadzooks ... that's amazing! Welcome back, Mary. We are so glad you are here with us and that you will share your journey with us as we all journey together towards a healthier lifestyle that will produce a wonderful, healthy, long life. We are here to encourage and support you and "kick butt" when needed! But we do it all because we truly care about each other. XXOO Judy.. |
Michele - Let's just say you'd have to refrain from too much fun.
The night before if you want to keep up with us and come in with a full head of steam! XXOO Judy.. |
Nancy - I wouldn't say you're complaining like a baby ... for heaven's sake, those are dang long days you are working. OMG I would crumble with days that long. My brain would probably short out or something like that. So be easy on yourself. Be prepared with food for each day, and don't run to food to make yourself feel better or to "ease the pain." XXOO Sis Judy..
Good morning.
Pamela. And all the Melters!. I love the image of the butterfly emerging it REALLY resonates with me when I look at what is happening to me both physically and psychologically!. I am off to teach an early morning student so no gym today - and it is not looking good for this weekend either I will have to pull out my step DVD again and move with that.. It looks like we dodged the snow bullet this morning how about you in MA?. Have a great day all!!. Cheers!. Jane.. |
