Got a question, hope someone can answer... How many calories daily is the Medifast Diet, Phase 1 and Phase 2? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. My other question... Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended.. |
I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could answer your Medifast question..

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Mia, Ella, Keri, Claire, Teri and Talien! It ended up being 7 of us, but that was a lovely group and I had a great night. Not crabby at all once I got there..
And after dinner 3 of us went and got massages, which I did not have to pay for, so all in all I say it was an excellent birthday. Just got home and came here first to say good morning to you!.. |
AHEM......
Where are photos of heels and hot dresses?. DELIVER!. Glad you had a great birthday and massage sounds like manna from heaven to me... |
I will, I will! My phone was being a fussy little freak and refusing to recognize the sim card or some nonsense. So pics are on other people's phones who have not yet tagged me on FB. As soon as they do, I will post here, I promise..
But it'll be in like 10 hours after sleeping. Much sleeping... |
G'morning girls! Freya, can't wait to see those pictures. Teri, I'll stick with my big glass of water instead...
Thanks for the coffee, Teri!.
Happy Birthday, Freya! What a fabulous celebration you all enjoyed! Sleep in as long as you can.. Ella: How are you feeling today? This group seemed pretty flippant about twins yesterday. I think we all admire you and know you'd be the best family those babies could have. For your sake I hope it'll be : either one or two! Twins would probably place you in bed in that hospital X# of hours from your family as they wait to be born. That would be very hard on everyone. When are they due?. Up early today. DH had 5 days off, so we enjoyed a mini-vacation at home. He'd ordered a new kingsize bed we plan to ride into the sunset. Having my 64 years old DH delight in picking out this super deluxe version has been an incredible compliment to me. He does love my skinny-a** found with MF's help. I am almost to the weight I was in college, when we started dating.. As he was walking through campus he saw many of the kids streaming to an outdoor concert. On cheeky young woman asked him, "Don't you wish you were 20 , Mister?" Hey, it's Spring and the sap is definitely rising! Anyway, he laughed when he told me about it and shook his head and said , "NO!" At 20, during VietNam war, he was already in Med school. There was another young amn who shared my DH's birthday, but was 2 years younger. When he did his residency at Northwestern, DH at U of Chicago, the other MD wasn't 21 and could not sign legal documents.. Grow old along with me,. The best is yet to be.. The last of life. For which the first was made.. Robert Burns. DH will take me out to celebrate my 63rd Bday this week (1 degree Taurus) so he can use my coupon for a free dessert. I may have decaf coffee. Sounds like a plan.. Enjoy you days, Tough Lovelies.. Beth.. |
Thanks, Beth. I have no issues with the concept of raising twins... I just don't want what I know comes along with being pregnant with twins in this environment. Baby/ies is/are due in early December. The hospital that our hospital is coordinated with is 3 hours away in Spokane, WA. Although Steven said, "Well, at least I could ride up with you as one of your EMTs and they could just leave me there!" The worst part is, though, the chance would be higher that I would end up being life-flighted there and I don't even want to think about the $$$ that would cost!.
Or alternatively yes, I'd end up on bedrest in the antenatal unit there. On the plus side, though... they have a much nicer L&D area than we do.... but would still rather not have to go so far away from home. We've actually even talked about maybe coordinating with my old OB in Phoenix and having the baby down there at St. Joe's... at least then I'd be with family and we could visit... |
Good morning everyone! Although it seems I should say good night to a few of you. I woke up this morning singing "There's Got To Be A Morning After". Storms yesterday were really bad. Flooding, stuff down, although not as bad as some other parts of US. But the sky is so neat. Still remnants of the storm clouds, everything is wet and clean, wind is blowing and there are blue skies in places.
Energizing me for a long run, some stretching and my Sunday chores. I am going to try to get out and do some work in my gardens. A good day for this.. I'll be in and out all day. I'm brewing a pot of Sumatra for everyone. No tea for me!.. |
Ella, I apologize if I missed this, but when will you find out if it is going to be one or two?..
Ultrasound day has been moved. Originally next Tuesday. Then doc said during Friday night's shift that I should probably move it to the first week of May, just to make sure we can see well enough (we don't have the most high tech of ultrasound machines). I'm debating. They're drawing a quantitative HcG this morning and Tuesday morning. If the numbers are way out of whack they may give me a good guesstimate on their own...
FW... I LOVE the way the sky looks after a rainstorm... almost like watching a 3D movie, everything just seems to POP out at you...
Either MT is being profound or she hasn't gotten any coffee in yet.....
The science geek in me is calculating the odds of having twins after 7 single births, then factoring in the soy.......hmmmm.....where is that big calculator.........
Just remember, the 7 single births RAISE the odds of having twins...
But then, I've always been one to beat the odds. 5% of babies are born on their due date. I had three IN A ROW born on their due dates. I sooooo should have bought a lottery ticket!..
I did factor in the number of separate events, which, indeed, does raise the odds. Why am I doing math on Sunday morning?..
It's got to be a mental disorder.... no other excuse for it!!..
Good morning tl'ers.. slept til 7:30 woo hoo and enjoyng my coffee...
Thankfully the rain is gone and the sun is out.... think I will try to run outside today... Feeling great after my me day yesterday and I even finished my book!!!.. so today's plan is 3 mile run, laundry, return skis, library (need a new book) and food shopping... Freya. - glad you had a great birthday an can't wait to see the pics. Ella. - I'm going against the odds and saying n to twins. Fuzzy. - enjoy your run. Mt. - Loving the wave in the morning but you've been quiet lately hope all is well. Cindy.. |
Sherry.
- morining.. you snuck in while I was typing... How was the party?. Cindy.. |
Holy cow! I'm away from the boards for a short time and we have a preggo! Congratulations Ella!!.
For a second I thought I was on my mommy internet board that I'm also a member of. lol!. Also, happy birthday Freya!!! Can't wait to see pics!!. I'm going to see Madam Butterfly later today. I'm not a huge opera fan, but my mom bought tickets and it will be nice to get out of the house for a bit.. My son has been sick with strep throat and 104 temp off and on for the last 4 days, so all of our other weekend plans had been canceled and we have been stuck at home.. Poor little guy. He almost never gets sick. He's such a trooper about it though. I wish his fever wouldn't get so high because it scares me, but hopefully he will start turning the corner today... |
I got brave and made my hot choco/coffee combo into iced coffee this morning. I say brave, because I was afraid to ruin a good thing I had going on with my love of the hot version, especially since I just bought a whole case of the stuff. lol!.
It is soooo yum! I don't usually drink hot coffee in the summer because I'm always so hot, so I would typically turn my starbucks addition into the iced version. Now I have my own iced version in MF. Woo! Hoo!!!. Plus, now I can use my new yummy flavored coffees I bought for my kuerig and just put them in a container after they are brewed to take to work with me and make up my delicious iced concoction.. This morning my coffee flavor of choice is caramel vanilla cream. So yum!!.. |
Good morning Tough Lovelies!.
Checking in after several days of absence. Been checking in on the group but not posting - haven't gotten the hang of it on my Blackberry yet.. Happy Belated Birthday Freya!. To everyone else here already. GOOD MORNING!!!!.. |
Ack... Chickie... I'm a HUGE opera fan... sooooo jealous of you seeing Madam Butterfly!.
How old is said sick strep boy and what are you using for the temp? If he's over 1, I find that ibuprofen is far more effective at reducing fevers than acetaminophen is. And if need be, since they are processed through different routes (ibuprofen through the kidneys, acetaminophen through the liver) you can even use both... |
Thanks Ella! I was hoping you would weigh in with your medical expertise..
He is 5, almost 6. He's 55 lbs., so pretty much a 6 year old in weight. I was using motrin, but it didn't seem to work, so I've been using Tylenol. The Tylenol will bring it down to 100 for a few hours before it spikes up again.. I knew I could use motrin/tylenol alternately, but I didn't realize I could use them at the same time. Is that what you are saying?.. |
I'm going to take dog out for a run this morning. AFTER coffee...
Also, that's interesting about how the two drugs are processed through different organs. I didn't realize that..
I'm really happy about it though because I use way too much ibuprofin for period cramps each month and I was afraid I was killing my liver. Since I drink so much water now, I'm hoping it will adequately flush my kidneys out.. I use Tylenol and aspirin combo for my migrains, but only use the recommended doses. Maybe my liver will be saved after all!! Yay!.. |
Chickie -.
When I had my hysterectomy, I don't tolerate prescription pain meds well and was using both - you just have to make sure you don't OD on either individually. I alternated them so took 2 ibuprofen, then two-three hours later, 2 tylenol. Really kept the pain under control. With a little guy I'd be cautious - Ella's and your doc's advice are best! I'm just a mom.. But if he's got strep and has been on meds for several days, shouldn't his fever be going away? Sounds like the infection isn't responding. My kid used to get strep, and within a day of starting antibiotics the fever would be lower and not spiking like that. I'm not big on dragging kids to the doc for everything, but if he's still running that much fever I'd be considering taking him back in... |
I used both for cramps too, back in the bad old days. They always told me to start taking them before I started hurhing, but I could never manage that - never had any idea it was coming til it was there. No PMS, no warning - so it was a fight to keep that under control. but alternating the meds really helped..
I think everyone's body is different, though, and the drugs don't seem to work quite the same for different things, for some reason... |
Good morning my lovelies! I'm staying home today after too much work yesterday - dh went back, so I'm here and trying to catch up a bit!.
Belatd Happy Birthday Freya! And Bethie, I hope you have a wonderful birthday!. I'm going to take a shower and catch up with a nap. I'm still really exhausted - we sheet rocked the ceiling of my sil's basement and it was not an easy job, the house being old and "off" center, so a lot of cutting, etc. Rained all night and so my body is just lagging here. But I did want to check in and let you know that I brought my food with me and remained OP. It was never in doubt for me despite the sludge they ate all day.. I'll be back later!. Melissa.. |
Chickie I'm with Steph.. my son used to get strep a lot and once he started antibiotics he was fine... 4 days with a fever is a long time... I would at least call the dr.....
Cindy.. |
Thanks Corbie! Yes, we took him to the doctor on Friday and they said if he wasn't better by Monday to bring him in again. I'm so glad we took him on Friday to find out what was going on. I for sure would have been taking him to the urgent care this weekend otherwise with that crazy high fever. I didn't even realize he had puss on his tonsils because he wasn't telling me his throat hurt and it never occurred to me to look in his mouth. I'm also one that doesn't like to run to the doc for every little thing, but unfortunately I think that maybe I'm not conscious enough sometimes..
He hasn't had any tylenol since 8pm last night and he woke with 100 fever this morning and not it's down to 99, so hopefully he's on the downturn... |
I'm off for my run will check back after... there will probably be another 4 pages of posts by then.... lol.
Cindy.. |
I'm the same way Corbie. I never have any warning until it hits and it's bad, bad, bad. I've always struggled with it. Plus I had/may have again endometriosus, which I think contributes to it. It got much, much better after I had a baby, but now that it's been almost 6 years and, I have a feeling, I'm getting close to peri-menopause, it's getting really bad again. I usually take 5 ibuprofin every 4 to 6 hours for 48 hours.
I certainly can't call in sick to work every month because of period cramps... |
Good morning everyone. I can't even hope to catch up, all I've got is Happy Birthday Yesterday Freya!.
Today's a wedding celebration dinner at my Dad's new wife's son's house. At 34, I don't think you don't call a new wife a stepmother, because there's no mothering involved. I'm a little anxious about the food as I have no idea what they'll be serving. I'm just going to go with 'nervous stomach' and take small portions of whatever is OP.. It's funny how much I hate 'wasting' my L&G at something like this now. I always make myself such yummy OP lean and greens that when I have to scrounge one, or I don't know what I'll be having, I feel like I'm getting cheated out of a good, nutritious meal. But, I have to remember that it is entirely possible that they will have delicious OP food I can eat.. At the last family dinner I had dry lettuce and nothing else, so I'm hoping it can't be worse than that. I'm also hoping DSO and I don't get treated like lepers... |
Wow... These boards are hopping already!.
Good Sunday morning to you all. Thanks for the tea,. Teri. (you will have to tell me about double bergamot Earl, I didn't realize that existed!). But I need coffee to start my engines.. Pos getting low with everyone piling in already, I'll just top everyone off and make us all up another pot. No fancy schmancy... just some good old rich with flavor 8 o'clock colombian.. Ella. , I'm with. Cindy. , Twin's would be exciting, but I think there's just one little angel growing in your tum. (And of course I base that on all my non existent medical knowledge...) LOL. Bethie. ! I love when you visit. Happy Happy (impending) Birthday!. Chickie. , it's he worst when our little guys/gals are sick. Despite our best efforts. It happens. I always feel so terrible for him. Wish it were me sick and not him.. Barb. , your self proclaimed geek/nerdery cracks me up. *Seeing* you doing the statistical math on the probability of Ella growing one baby or two on a Sunday. It's perfect. It's like a Sunday morning brain stimulator. Kind of like doing the weekend crossword. No nerdery in my book.. Good Morning. Steph, MT, Gavette, MELISSA. !!,. Freya. (Shhh. Freya's still sleeping Bless her Heart)and anyone I have missed!.. |
Good Morning All You MF'n Tough Lovelies!.
Walking with a spring in my step because I'm down another 1.6 lbs to 217.1 this morning. Love the whooshes!. I don't think I've posted here in a couple of days. I start reading and then have to go do something before I have a chance to post.. Freya - Happy Birthday Hon! So glad you had a good turnout for your evening and you really enjoyed yourself.. Teri - After reading about the sodastream I just turned right around and ordered one from Amazon, and ordered my flavors from sodastream (no shipping on the machine from Amazon). PLEASE tell me the flavors are as good as the real thing. I'm a diet. dr. pepper addict and I ordered the Diet Dr. Pete (among others) so if it doesn't taste pretty much like the real thing I'll be disappointed. I could never bring myself to buy Perrier or other fizzy water on a regular basis. Just way too expensive.. Sherry - you asked about pudding. I always make shakes out of pudding.. Deidre - you asked about where to buy WF. I order from Amazon. I even get the six-pack of pancake syrup because I know I'll use it eventually. Amazon has mostly free shipping too. I just hate ordering from WF because they don't send you a confirmation email, never email you to let you know that the products have shipped or when they're possibly going to arrive, and they take a LONG time to get the products to you. Just zero customer service in my experience.. Okay somebody tell me how to make turnip fries. I dont believe Ive ever eaten a turnip. They smell pretty rank, but my DH boils them when he eats them. As fries, I think even sh*t would taste good. So gimme instructions!. I made my very first Oatmeal Muffin this morning. It stil had a tad bit of a whang aftertaste to it, but I can definitely get through what I have left by making muffins out of them. It was nice to have a bread-y muffin again. I used to love to make and eat bran muffins after having had some of the best ever on a cruise with my mom back in Jan 09. Sure could use the bran on this program!!. Hey does anyone know if the Medifast essential 1 for digestive health is supposed to help move things along? Or is it for something else?. De - glad you cooled down yesterday. I always worry about you in a garden in Phoenix through the HOT weather.. Penny - Okay I love the lapis and the web jesper (or jasper?). Both would go with a lot of different outfits.. Melissa - sheetrock a ceiling? OMG, you're amazing. I can watch HGTV all day long but can never figure out how to do that stuff. I'd be a good helper if someone could order me around and tell me what to do. Have so many projects around here that need to be done so I'm not socially embarrassed when people come over, but I have no clue on how to get started.. Ella - I'm betting on one. Just because it seems like it's going to be two. I'll wager in the opposite direction. I know with just my second pregnancy it seemed like I was much bigger much earlier on in the pregnancy. Of course he's now 6'5" tall too! LOL. Sassy - I wish each man had different sizes for different uses, ya know? Snap on tools. hehehe. Nuff said.. May I just say that I've made chicken fried cauliflower rice like three times this week. LOVE that stuff. Am looking forward to trying the fauxtatoes. Oh, and I've continued to have cheese and it doesn't seem to be slowing down my weight loss, so I'm definitely NOT giving it up. Just trusting the program and moving right along.. On an NSV note, I am almost NEVER the fattest girl in the room any more. My heart aches for those who are, but I am so damn glad it isn't me!!. HUGGLES!.. |
Zoe. Good Morning, friend. May the Medifast gods smile down upon your meal and provide something OP for you! (fingers crossed for you). Maybe you could split your L&G and eat before you go, and that way you could "pick" lightly at OP items, and if there aren't any, sneak a bar in and pretend to pick, and at the remainder of your L&G when you get home. Why would you get treated like lepers? Is it going to mostly be your Dad's new wife's side of the family or something?..
Happy Birthday Freya! Sorry I'm late!.
Hope your little one gets better soon Chickie!. Zoe, have fun and hope you find something OP and tasty!. Congrats tkd!. To everybody else, Hi!!!. Me and the kids went to my parents' house last night. They ordered three sludges. Of course I did not eat any of it. There were a ton of leftovers. Two sludges to be exact. My brother is also on a weight loss program. She wasn't being more considerate of my brother, she just had faith in me not to eat it. What could have been a bad thing was actually good for me. Didn't think I would be happy about being sent home with a ton of sludge.. Only thing going on today is my second cousin's 5th birthday party at 2:00. Should be fun for all the kids.. Up 0.2 AGAIN today. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. It's OK though, I'll be down by weigh in. (I HOPE!!!).. |
Tdk-HAHAHAHA! Loved your comment to me..
Good morning all! I hope you all are drinking coffee or still sleeping. It's an actual SUNNY day here in Portland, OR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get sunshine about 3 days per year so I'm pretty freaking excited. I have a busy day because of my student's recital this afternoon but I can't wait to get out on my bike afterwards!.. |
You can get really surprised by how strangely people treat you when you're gay. Sometimes it is the only thing they can see about you. The dinner is entirely new wife's family, but I actually think they are probably better behaved than my side would be. I don't even take DSO to anything with one entire side of my own family. I could, but why subject her to being treated badly?..
Morning TLers! It's going to be a beautiful sunny day here and I am going to do some gardening then a little sun bathing in the pool! I'm hoping the sun will shrink some of my baggy skin but I have a hunch it's going to take exercisemaybe I better break out the bike instead..
Everyone have a lovely, OP day and happy losses to all!.. |
(Shaking head) Really??? People should really get their effin heads outta their azzez. Sometimes people can really just s you c k...
Good morning all!.
My Sunday 'coffee' is my Medifast cappuccinothat's the closest I get. Had my first-'Now don't lose anymore...' weight comment yesterdaythe person retracted it after 2 seconds but I guess it'll prepare me for my future!. Did someone say Chicken fried cauliflower rice?!?!? Is there a recipe for this?!?!?. OH I have 5 month pics to put up...I'll have to do it later!!. Gotta go teach about 13 rambunctious kids (4-6 yr old) in Sunday School! Should be an adventure!!!.. |
Just got back from running the track and bleachers... Holy crap it's windy out... Made for a tough workout but glad it's done... Now time to shower and start my OP day!!!.
Cindy.. |
OK. I was originally crossing my fingers for only one, now I'm voting for twins cause I might get to see them in person! <snicker> I vote Phoenix!!! Especially in December..
Tracey - I really just miscalculated yesterday. We have a block house so it's considerably cooler inside than out. It's not usually quite this hot this early, usually not until May, so I didn't realize how hot it was outside. I will hand in my sky chair during hotter periods, but usually keep the strenuous stuff to early or late, when there is no direct sun. Today, I just have to not be lazy. I have a lot of stuff (cleaning) to get done, laundry to do, a Goodwill drop off to make, and some more weeding to do, which is the first thing on my list. And by weeding I am NOT talking about the garden, Im talking about my lawn! <sigh> I have more weeds than grass right now, cause our sprinkler system has been down.. Check in later on... |
Amelie - I'm sure I found a recipe somewhere but I don't remember where now. Here's what I do:.
1. Grate up some cauliflower heads - enough for a cup or so (depending on if you want other veggies in your "rice"). 2. Spray some olive oil pam in the pan on a medium high to high heat (stoves vary).. 3. Mince a clove of garlic into the pan and sautee that a minute or so.. 4. Dump the grated cauliflower into the pan and sautee it with the garlic. 5. If you want other veggies to round out your green, then add them here - mushrooms, scallions, zucchini, whatever.. 6. Make a "well" in the mixture and put a couple TBS of egg beaters in the middle and let that cook till the eggs are done - then scramble them into the rest of the mix.. 7. Add some light or low carb soy sauce. 8. Throw in the chicken. When I'm in a hurry I use canned chicken breast meat but of course it always tastes better with chicken breast meat off a freshly cooked chicken (although we always use cornish hens instead of chicken).. Cook it till you think everything is right and have a ball. LOVE this stuff and could probably eat it every single day. Fast, easy, YUM.. BTW - 1 tsp soy sauce is a condiment. I don't know if you get any more with light or lower carb stuff. But 1 tsp is generally enough for me anyway... |
Good morning everyone!.
I've been up forever, lots of pet sitting this morning, and I'm ready for a nap. Cocoa (one of my dogs) is sleeping on my left shoulder, Bee (one of my cats) is sleeping on my right, and I think that's my cue to take a little siesta myself!. Still windy here but at least the sun is peaking out. Hopefully it'll stay nice, the daily rain is getting depressing, for me AND the dogs.. Have a great OP day everyone!. Tara.. |
Morning Lovelies!! Happy Sunny Sunday!.
Chickie. - If. Ella. Didn't answer your questions re: using motrin and tylenol together... You can "piggy-back" them. Give the first dose of motrin and the first dose of tylenol. Then give the motrin again at it's regular dosage time (8 hours?) and then the tylenol at it's regular dosage time (4 hours?). I may have that a little off. Ella can confirm. It was recommended by his pediatrician. Worked like a charm.. No chopped tofu this morning. I need more coffee to remember what I just read.. It's going to be a nice sunny day here today. After coffee, it's bike ride time and then costco. And then gardening I believe. Perhaps a nice bbq for dinner... |
I will never, ever, ever, ever understand why people think they have a right to cast aspersions on gays. I will never understand why anyone else should think it is a flaw. I have had so many gay friends over the years and so frequently it's their OWN family that gives them the most grief. Quite frankly, I just don't understand why ANYONE should care about anyone elses sex life! To me, it's ignorant...
Just popping to say that I want to leave for my bike ride; however, my husband found out that Planets of the Apes is on. Oh heaven have mercy on me. Really? Planet of the Apes? I know, I know, it's a classic. Sheesh...
Good morning everyone..
Nothing much happening here. DH has been staying at his parents' house, helping care for his dad. The siblings are all there, surrounding their dad with love & care. Makes me teary to see the gentleness that they all use to make sure that their dad is as comfortable as is possible in his last days.. I've stayed on program but have been bombarded with food & bingeing thoughts. Thankfully I've been able to see those thoughts for what they are, a crutch to get through a difficult, emotional time. No amount of food will make things easier, thankful that I am able to remember that each time one of those thoughts comes to mind.. The sun is shining in my windows and oh my gosh, they need to be cleaned!! Yikes!. Hope everyone has a nice Sunday!.. |
Sorry I missed your day. Sounds like it was great in the end..
Hugs... |
Such a special Sunday here. I can't imagine not having the coffee on MF, it saved my butt. Thankfully I love tea as well. Enjoy your cup and where are you going on the trip?.
I've kinda been outta the loop... |
A newbee since I've been gone and do I read it correctly? YOu are preggers too!..
I had endometriosis too, and nothing they did to treat me helped, including an ablation. I finally couldn't bear it any longer and had a hysterectomy, and it was the best thing I ever did. Wish I'd done it ten years sooner. I also had something called adenomyosis (I think that's how it's spelled, anyway), that they couldn't diagnose until they actually did the hysterectomy. In any case, according to my gyn and the the surgeon, there wasn't anything they could have done short of surgery that would have really helped my symptoms. I kept praying for menopause, but that comes late in my family...
OH honey I heard about all the bad weather. Glad you are safe...
Well, sadly enough a family that would treat you and your mate that way would probably treat ANY mate you brought home that way. People who are badly behaved usually have their true colors come through, period...
Thanks guys..
LOL @. Corbie. That's true, if it weren't gayness with my family, it would be something else. Maybe giving them that to focus on is shielding us from more personal attacks!.. |
Cheri explained it correctly... it's usually 6 hours for ibuprofen (motrin) and 4 for acetaminophen (tylenol). I tend to not treat fever very aggressively because it is the body's way of getting the body to a temperature that is inhospitable for the virus or bacteria causing the fever. However, the time comes when you just have to get it down! Just go by his weight and the dose on the container... it will tell you whether the dose is a 6 hour or 8 hour dosage for ibuprofen..
I tend to treat fevers more in the evening and night so that the kiddos can sleep and let them run their course within reason during the day.. Zoe, whoever has a problem with your SO should go shove their heads up their ***. Oh... wait, I'm sure their head is already up their ***... that's why they have that problem!. De, I kind of figured that would be your response!. Had the lab run a quantitative HcG test. The higher the number, the stronger the pregnancy is holding... however, it can also give a hint as to whether we're talking one or two by just how high it is... when I asked in the lab this morning for what the result was... it was "over range"... the number was so high the computer couldn't quantify it!! They're running it again, I need to call back in an hour. I like seeing a nice high number but really? Really??.. |
It gives them a target, anyway. I'm not gay (although I once brought home a gay roommate on a visit, while I was in the Marine Corps, and my step mother nearly died of apoplexy - honestly, it never occurred to me that it would be an issue until it was an issue...), but my family is the same. Spouses are outsiders. They're always be outsiders. They're targets. UNTIL I was getting a divorce - then they all pretended they going to keep the spouse and divorce me..
They're just contrary, period. I ignore them unless they go after my husband, then I tell whoever it is, loudly and publicly, to back the f off. Interestingly, they all know me quite well, and they know I mean it and generally comply unless booze is involved. So, our policy is that we don't attend ANY family gathering where booze is being served, period. Dysfunction is enhanced by drugs... |

We bought this for DH for Christmas. He is a Diet coke Addict. He loves it. Everyone does and it is so much fun 'making' pop for guests, too. I think it does save money in the end. We have deposits on our cans here and the time spent collecting and returning, etc adds up too.
As for the Stir Fried Cauli-Rice. We love it, too. So does all of our company. Unless I tell them, they really don't know it is NOT rice, but they do know it tastes great.. HUGS on not being the fattest girl anymore.. I remember that feeling when I took my twins to visit colleges. I was not only NOT the fattest mom, but I was NOT the oldest either. Whew!.. |

Chickie - Like Steph, I too had endometriosis and a partial hysterectomy a year after my youngest was born. A year after that, they took my ovaries. May I say that it's been the happiest 18 years!! hehe.
Ella - jeez! I know you really only want one and I will keep my fingers crossed for that, but it's kind of not looking good. Keep us posted.. Decided to break from my lawn aeration (that's what it looks like where I've pulled weeds) and grabbed a bite. I do hate waiting 2 hours before eating, but I can't take my meds at night so, oh well. At least I'm right on schedule, which is rare for a weekend.. Hey there Chatty!!. Going to guzzle another glass of water then get back to it. I would like to have at least half of it done in the next hour, before it gets too hot for me. It's still very pleasant right now, high 70's, so need to take advantage... |
Good morning, kids! Nice to see everyone! It's still morning for two minutes, so I'd better make it quick..
Earl Gray and Sumatra - my 2 second favorite morning beverages. My first is this Komodo Dragon hubby brewed for me... |
Good AFTERNOON!.
I was up late last night playing with my new gold plated wire making several rings and things. I stayed up until 1:30 and still suffered with some mild cramps despite the muscle relaxers. It felt great to sleep in a little this morning even though I had some crazy twitching going on in my foot and ankle.. Today I plan to take the gal to see the Easter Bunny. This may well be the last time we go while she still "believes.".. |
Thanks for the drug advice everyone!.
His temp is back up to 103.5, so I'm not sure exactly what my plan of attack will be at the moment. I also agree that the fever is attacking his sickness, so I don't want to get too aggressive. I just wish it wouldn't keep getting so high.. De and Corbie, I sometimes wish I could have a hysterectomy. Menopause comes very early in my family, but it seems like it has taken the women in my family 10 years or so to get through it. Ugh! When you are done using your reproductive organs, you shouldn't have to have them anymore if you don't want them.. Although I would love, love, love to have another baby, I am very infertile to begin with and had to spend thousands and thousands of dollars in fertility treatments to have the one blessing I have. I'm just so done having the horrible 3-5 days every month now.. Well, off to shower and then to the opera. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day!!.. |

Okay... called the lab, HcG is 8606... but they had to dilute the sample to get it to run right, so I'm thinking the actual level is a bit higher. So, no real info there, could be either just a REALLY strong singleton or a strong set of twins. Either way, will have better info Tuesday after I test again. Really weirded out about them having to dilute the sample, it just seems wrong..
But hey, it's a healthy pregnancy, regardless of number involved, and I have to work again tonight, so off to beddy bye for me! Don't be TOO chatty in the meantime!.. |
Just made Cream of Chicken soup chips! WOWSER! I am trying new recipes today, can ya tell?..
I just slow cooked dinner and baked sludge for DSO and now I'm baking dog treats because the dog has allergies and it is way cheaper to just cook his treats myself than pay the exorbitant amount the fancy treats cost. The dog treats smell better cooking and are more nutritious than either of the other things I made this morning! How funny is that? I have no desire to eat the people food, but the dog food has got my stomach rumbling!.
Also, my dog is usually OP since he is temporarily vegan. He has my green with me every night... |

My hysterectomy about 15 years ago was the (now 2nd) best thing thing I ever did to my body. Medifast now has 1st place..

Hi Everyone! I'm back - a bit more alive!.
Hi to Barb, MT, Ella, Sherry, Cindy, Chickie, Karen, Zoe, Keri, Tdk, Kris, Nannette, Amelie, De, Penny, Tara and Talien. !!!!! - I really hope I didn't miss anyone!. The storm left the air so crisp and clean, the sun is shining and so far all is well here. I ran over to Zambetti's - a low carb store in New City that carries a pretty impressive line of WF and stocked up on the marshmallow dip I use in my pudding shakes.. Thanks. Tkd. For the recipe, but could you go over the Cream of Chicken soup chips - I know I've seen it before - but I wasn't very focused then. I have a word doc with all the 100% recipes, so if you could I'll add that in!. And after living with a carpenter for 15 years I'm pretty book smart about carpentry, but my skill level is totally assistant, trust me. And I realized that if I went out there again today nothing would happen at home, like food shopping and laundry that really does need to get done, so I'm glad I stayed home.. Ella. Can't wait for the final word on whether you've got twins in there or not - Ella plus nine just doesn't have the right ring to it, you know? Please keep us informed!. Chickie. I hope your wee one is better soon - 103.5 is very high and as a somewhat easily panicked mother, I wouldn't hesitate to get him in to urgent care if it doesn't go down soon!. Zoe. - I hope you have a great time and that everyone treats you wonderfully!. Talien. I'm so glad that your fil's family is there to help care for him - that love goes a long way. And I'm so glad you're not turning to the sludge, it doesn't make anything better - just keep coming here when you need us, we'll be here.. Next weekend is dd's 27th birthday and Easter. We're going out for both this year - expensive, but I think worth it. I'm just not up to having a lot of sludge around.. I have one more trip to make to the store for stockings for next week, then I can do nothing for the rest of the day! :-). Much love to all,. Melissa.. |
Zoe - Would you mind sharing your dog treat recipe? I'm sick of spending money on the garbage from the store and both my pups could benefit from something healthier..
Well, stick a fork in me I AM DONE!!! My body gave out just as I pulled the last flowering weed. Hard to believe, but in just 2/3 of my yard, I filled 2 39 gallon leaf bags with weed to the tune of about 40 lbs each. At least my yard is looking so much better now. An hour or so and I'll need to get moving again so my muscles don't seize... |
Trying to catch up, reading quickly. The above sentence was "student's rectal this afternoon" in my brain..
*sigh* It's not wholesome in my brain. But I'm going to blame Penny's apparatus... |
Hey All! Breezing in to say Hey... So... Hey!.
De, I think I'm gonna try your zucchini lasagna today. It's cold and windy (more rain is expected I think) and it is a good day here to get the oven cranked up!. Need to make your sauce first. I'm very excited, I even bought some Ball freezer cups to freeze some. Gonna roast me some tommy toes. Any secrets (I'm gonna use parchment paper)before I start? Oh and another question, do you roast the scallions as well or do they go in raw?.. |
Thanks for the birthday wishes, Sherry, Chickie, Karen, Melissa, Zoe, TKD, Kris, and Chatty!!!.
Thanks for keeping the racket down, Keri I slept until 10!. TKD, love the NSV! Way to go not being the fattest girl anymore.. Zoe, good luck with that leprosy. I hear it's catching, thats probably why they act like jerkfaces.. Talien, big hugs for you and your family. Hang in there with the sludge thoughts sounds like you have great awareness.. Chatty welcome home!!!!! So glad you had an amazing trip!!!. De way to be productive. Color me impressed. From my sofa.. Good morning, TLers!!! *mwah!*.. |
Welcome home chatty.... I was jut asking about you in chat.. Hope you had a great trip.. Hows your daughter? She must be getting close.
Cindy.. |
Hey, everyone! It's late in the day, but I slept in. Love doing that!..
Me three,.
Zoe. - Gigi LOVES broccoli, so I'll bet she'll love your treats!. Melissa.. |
Well hello Claire, glad you're up!.
So happy to have this day to myself! (Thinking of you, De!). Melissa.. |
Good morning lovelies. I woke up with a whopper of a cold (including fever and sore throat) of a cold. DANG!!!! I was headed for Restaurant Week with some friends (one of my favorite Seattle events) today, but oh well. If it was just a cold, I'd go and maybe just drive my own car, but I don't want to infect everyone and I'm sure they don't want me to. Lazy day of TV, Kindle books and cutting coupons..
Okay, on page two..now I will catch up on page three. Wow..active group.. Teri. , almost forgot..thanks for the tea. Sounds better than coffee today... |
I love being alone melissa... doesn't happen often enough...
Off to the supermarket. Cindy.. |
Zoe.
, one of the two chihuahuas who own me has touchy skin. I've changed them to no grain dog food which has helped, but I just learned that the Greenies they have eaten all of their lives are quite allergenic. Would you mind PMing me the dog treat recipe?.. |
Definitely roast the scallions! Either way, you would have to either roast or saute. Throw some garlic cloves on that sheet as well! Mmmmmm.... Roasted garlic..... drool... Uh, sorry about that.
Freya - Yeah, tell me about it! Making up for my lack of productivity yesterday. Think it's actually warm enough to hang a couple of loads of laundry today. My little part for saving the environment. hehe. I usually hang my laundry all summer. It costs too much to run the AC 24/7 AND the dryer, plus they tend to dry faster on the line anyway... |
Feel better soon,.
Susan. ! Greenies gave Gigi these horrible bumps - I took her off them sure enough - they all went away. Now I give her dent a bones which don't seem to effect her negatively.. Cindy. I really crave alone time - I don't have a lot of it at all.. Hi. Anna. How's it going over there???? Hope you find somewhere nice to live!. Loving this day, Medifast and our wonderful tough lovelies!. Melissa.. |
Zoe.
Count me in on the doggie treat recipe also. I've been feeding the Waggin Train Chicken Strips (smell so good I could almost eat them) and he needs to detox from them for a while.. Beautiful weather in GA today. Sunny and low 70's... |
OK, I think I got everybody. I spruced up my message to De and sent it out..
De. , for what it's worth, these treats are turning out a bit wet, you'd best up the dry ingredients a bit - I put it in the other gals PMs, but since I've already sent you FOUR, I thought I'd spare you... |
[QUOTE I usually hang my laundry all summer. It costs too much to run the AC 24/7 AND the dryer, plus they tend to dry faster on the line anyway.[/quote].
I love love love the smell of sheets hung on the line to dry. Even in winter, to get that yummy smell, when I strip beds etc, I wash and dry, and after they're dry, optherwise they'd just freeze stiff as a board, I'll hang em out on the line to flap in the breeze for an hour or so, weather permitting of course. Summertime, I try and hang as much out as possible. I have learned that I cannot feed birds, and hang out washing. These two things are counterproductive... |
Zoe.
, thanks so much. Did you get these from a book? I was thinking of cooking for these little monsters. I did it for my rescue greyhounds long ago, but no longer have the book that I got the recipes from. OH..I totally agree, by the way, about being selfish of my L/G. Even with the fabulous lunch out on Friday, when dinner came around, I felt like stomping my foot because I didn't have my L/G to look forward to... |
Melissa.
, that is EXACTLY what happens to London. Almost like welts. We really don't know if it was fleas, food, grass or greenies, so attacking all of them... |
LOL!!!!! totally smiling that i'm posting first!!!.
SNAP! happy sunday ladies. you guys keep me going each and everyday even when i'm dragging my *** so here we go.. Fyi - I do NOT drink coffee - so COLD TURKEY LADIES!. Double bergamot earl gray is on tap. no one biting?.....sigh, okay French pressed coffee with grounds from the freezer - no idea what i'm serving - it's randy's stash but it's probably good b/c he will not leave the house without at least two cups ingested. i'm making it STRONG......
