Got a question, hope someone can answer... Medifast Diet + HIIT = weight loss?!? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Another quick question... Hi everyone!. |
Good question... I dunno what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could assist you..

Help! I re-started yesterday, got on the scales this morning and was depressed and angry at myself for having gained back SO much weight. But, I am motivated. I have to get started on this during the holiday season or I will just gain even MORE weight. I feel like crap, clothes are tight again. I know my health is suffering. I have to do something about this..
My first goal is to lose 40 pounds by March 12th. I friend and I are planning to go on a cruise and the idea of being seen in a bathing suit is very motivating! So I am open to as much support as I can get!.. |
Kay, if you stick to the plan 40 pounds by the middle of March is very possible. I started Oct. 4th and have lost 35 pounds in 8 weeks. Cruises are so much fun, I have been on several. When I went I weighed over 300. I still snorkeled, scubaed, and swam.
Enjoy life whereever you are. But if you really want to be thin, stick to the program and it will happen.. Pat.. |
Good Luck, Everyone! Losing weight is worth it! I've had so many set-backs over the years and am having great success with MF. I started about three weeks ago and have lost 17 pounds..
We're gonna do it!!!. Jim H... |

Hi Everyone!.
I'm starting Medifast for the first time today and am excited and ready to make some positive changes in my life. I've had a little success with other plans throughout the years but nothing long term. I think the support found in the forums will definitely help.. I look forward to getting to know you all!. Virgie.. |
Hello, I've recently restarted. I'm not new to Medifast. I could use to join a group and this one seems perfect! Hello everyone. I look forward to getting to know you all and witness you shrink!..
Thanks, Pat! I am proud of myself because I did pretty well yesterday, even with an office potluck. I made a salad I could eat and brought low fat dressing, plus I brought a baggie of chopped up turkey for my lean. I did have a tamale (hey, it's the Christmas season!), but did not eat the enchiladas, the desserts or the pasta..
I will swim when I'm fat, I just want to have the energy to go around and do things on the cruise. Having that be a mini-goal helps me stay focused... |
Hi!.
I"m starting Medifast for the first time and making it through my first week. Still kind of feeling my way around this site and hoping to become part of the community. I really want to finally succeed. I started at 330 two years ago, working out at the YMCA and kind of following various diets usually low carb and made it down to 229. Then I just couldn't push past my emotional eating and have gained and lost and gained again back up to 260ish. So here I am.. Thanks,. Barb.. |
Hey all! I started 2 weeks ago and am down 14 lbs....so excited, and ready to commit to this Plan..Good luck to all of us! WE CAN DO IT!..
Hi everyone!.
I technically started last Sunday, Novemebr 28th, but I do have over 100 to losecan I still join, can I?? Can I? Please :^). I belong to a couple of other groups, too, but I like the idea of being one of the 'founding' members of a new group :^). I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!. Blessings,.. |
Hi! My name is Christy and I am starting Medifast for the first time today. I am so excited to be beginning my journey. I am happy to see that there are other like me who have for than 100+ lbs to lose. Makes me not feel so alone. I have 128 pounds to lose to reach my goal..
I am a mom to 4 kids and a night shift RN. Good Luck and positive thoughts to everyone.. Christy.. |
Well, I made it past the third day somehow that seems to be a difficult day for me. Down 3.5 pounds, so almost 10% of my first goal achieved!.
I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling overwhelmed by how far I have to go in this journey. If I focus on the fat that I need to lose almost half my body weight, it feels impossible and it's easy to lose hope. I think by breaking this down into specific goals, like losing 40 pounds by March, this will seem more possible. If something is possible, then I find it easier to stay focused on meeting the goal. In the past I have tried to set mini goals for every 20 pounds, but that hasn't done the trick, so I'm making a bigger goal, but setting a deadline.. What methods have worked for others?.. |
Hi everyone!.
I restarted Friday 3Dec2010 n' here to finally make it my turn to get to goal as I have seen others do - I peeked this morning and I have already lost 7 lbs. though my first week is not up yet so I am excited to see what my total first week results will be on Friday the 10th....this time around I have been able to resist any BLT's! Much success to each and every one here!.. |
Congrats Martha!!!! it really feels good to see you efforts pay off!..
Thanks Kay!.
Last night was rough for me; I was sooo hungry I cried and acted like a spoiled brat, lol; but I hung on, had some hot broth and got through the night to a great pay off this morning....... Another 3 lbs. down.. ....can't wait until my official Friday weigh....even though I know the first week usually is the biggest number lost; I'm still so happy that my efforts to get through these tough times is rewarded, eh!. Have a great day fellow MF'ers!.. |
Hello MFers.
I started on Thursday December 2nd. I have 110.6 lbs to loose but I am looking forward to meeting a lot of different goals:. 1: Getting below my pregnancy weight. 2: Entering onederland. 3: Weighing less then my husband. 4: Fitting into my wedding dress. 5: Weighing 136 lbs which is about what I weighed when I was a freshman. I would love to join your group and help you celebrate all of your goals.. I'm going on a cruise January 23 so my motivation is really strong right now. I'm going to stay on plan, no cheating and reach my goals... |
Hi All,.
I've been MIA from the boards for a few days due to studying and get-togethers but I've managed to stay OP so that's a plus! Tomorrow marks my first full week on MF. I'm still feeling a bit blah physically but I'm excited about the changes I'm making each day. I did have to re-work the plan a bit with my Dr. since I have to watch how much soy I eat/drink each day. That means I won't lose as quickly as I'd hoped that's ok... for now. I hope everyone is having a great week!. Virgie.. |
Happy Wednesday Everyone!.
Well, week 1 down several more to go. I had a loss of 5.2lbs so I'm on my way! Now it's time to run a few errands and grab lunch.. Quick question for the Medifast vets. I know feeling kind of run down, crabby, dizzy/lightheaded while your body adjusts to the program is to be expected. If you don't mind sharing, I was just wondering how many people experienced these things early on and how long it lasted.. Thanks!. Virgie.. |
Hi, everyone,.
I'm still getting the hang of this thing never used discussion boards before! I, too, started eleven days ago on November 28th, but I hope you'll let me in anyway! :-D. I'm so excited saw my doctor today and I'm actually down 11 pounds! That's almost 10% of my overall goal, to go from 239 to 130. It's funny how as the days have gone by, my goal weight has dropped along with the weight. When I started out, 150 seemed like the best I could imagine. Then, after a few days, 145, then 140 seemed like they were possible. Now, 130 was what I weighed in my 20s, before I began struggling with my weight (aside from a fat spell in my teens). I'd love to get back into a size 11 again!.. |
Morning all!.
It's good for me to check in and remember I'm not alone in this. It has been a HORRIBLE week , one that normally would have driven me to eat (I don't drink, but I might have started!) Several family members had surgery, or are in the hospital with critical issues right now. Then, an old friend who is one year younger than me (54) had a heart attack and died in her sleep. She left a husband and 12 yr old son :^(. It is such a wake up call for me to STAY strongit is worth it to be healthy. Even at 55, I still have little ones at home and I need to be here for a long time!. Staying Strong~.. |
Debbi: wow, you have had a lot of stuff going on! I know how easy it is to get overwhelmed by the feelings and eat. When things like that all happen it throws me out of my routines and I can start making "fast" rather than "good" choices to eat. I'm glad you are remembering to take care of yourself. Hang in there!..
Hi Debbi,.
You, your family, and friends are in my prayers! Congrats for staying OP even with so much going on!. Virgie.. |
Made it to the gym last night for 30 minutes on the treadmill. Am trying to go twice a week now and will figure out a way to go three times after the first of the year. This is after joining the gym in the fall, going one week and not going again until last sunday!..
Been doing well on plan and on adding exercise to my life. Went to the gym Sunday and walked 35 minutes, 30 minutes today, and will try to hit the gym Saturday. I'm feeling better about myself because I am doing something FOR myself to change being fat. I am also feeling more energy, which helps me do more..
How's everyone else doing?.. |
Hi,.
I would love to join this group. I went to the doctor today for my first physical in seven years. She basically said I needed to do Medifast or get weight loss surgery. I chose MF, and rushed my first order today. I am hoping that this community will inspire me and keep me motivated to reach my goals!.. |
Welcome Calypso! Things have been a little slow in this thread the past few days. I guess we are all trying to cope with the holidays. It's good that you decided to give Medifast a try first. My doctor asked about bariatric surgery and I just have some real concerns about it. Not only does surgery carry risks, but I've seen people who don't change their relationship with food sabotage bypass surgery. This is the less invasive way to go!..
Calypso, I agree with Kay about the surgery. I had a lap band 'installed' :^) about 5 years ago. It helped a little bit at first, but I soon figured out how to bypass it and I gained back all the weight I had lost, plus more. Even my doctor told me that over half of the bands he.
Had placed were not helping the patient.. I have done many, MANY diets over mylifetime, and this is the fastest I have ever lost weightand I lost 75 pounds in six months once, on Atkins.. Stick with MFyou'll be glad you did!. Blessings,.. |
How is everyone doing? What are plans for managing the holidays and all the food? I've been successful avoiding cookies and have asked my family not to give me any candy for Christmas. I am still deciding whether I feel strong enough to make some Christmas cookies or whether I should leave it until next year. Anyone else avoiding Christmas baking?..
I haven't received my food yet. (getting it this week!!) I am excited to get started and very nervous. I SO want this to work for me!! I turned 31 yesterday, and really want to have children. I am currently 300 pounds, have high blood pressure, and found out yesterday that I have diabetes!! This is my hope, my dream, my desire to lose this weight so that I can be a healthy mommy...
I just received my food today and I'm so excited about starting. I'm just a little hesitant since I'll be traveling this weekend. I'm considering just waiting until Monday, but that seems so far away and I'm eager to see if this plan will work for me. I've been reading all the success stories and it has me wanting the holidays to be over already so I can start...
I just started today! I don't know what food you ordered, but surely the bars would travel well? If nothing else, even if you're partially OP it will help, that's my opinion..
~Jayson.. |
I just need to shout out "I met my first 'down 20lbs' goal today!! Yay! I was actually really surprised and I have to say it really inspired me....It's really what I needed. I'm grateful I'm here and have a very happy holiday everyone!..
Agreed! If I were not traveling, I would start it right away. I really don't care about holiday food. But, I'm not ready to tell my whole extended family about MF, and there will be no privacy for fixing food, etc. since we're all staying in one house. So, I'm waiting until we return home (the 28th) to start..
I was thinking about doing a "transition" to MFmaybe replacing some meals with the bars, and eating as lean and green as possible for the other meals... |
Hi all,.
I just wanted to stop by and give you all some encouragement. I started the first of Oct and have lost 40 pounds. I know you all can do it too. I was 306 when I started and had. Done several other diets over the years. Sometimes this one is easy, somedays it is really hard, but you can do it. I was surprised at how easy it has been for me to not eat all the holiday goodies that are everywhere. The bars are like have a sweet treat and curb my desire for goodies.. Give this diet your best and you will all succeed. Just remember how good it will feet to get rid of the extra pounds. It really surprised me just how much more I could do and enjoy activities after just one month.. My best wishes to all of you, Pat.. |
Pat,.
We have similar starting weights; have you been doing a lot of exercising, or is your weight loss mainly from the food alone? I am hoping to drop 40 pounds by my birthday (March 19)... |
Jennifer woohoo.
Great job and congratulations!!! It makes it easier to keep working when you see progress!. A couple people commented about getting ready to start if you can't start (traveling, supplies not in) then eating as clean as possible is a good idea. Review what veggies are on plan because not all are! And congratulations for taking your steps towards a healthier new year!. So my resolution for 2011 is to continue working this program and to increase my exercise to 3 times per week. If I can continue to lose about 10 pounds per month, by summer I will be lighter than I have been in 10 years, and I will be very close to my goal this time next year!. Kay.. |
Calypso,.
No I have not been doing any extra exersize during this time. Just living a normal life except for the food I eat. I think part of the reason I lost alot was that I started at 306.. People with less to lose sometimes don't lose a quickly. But I think if you stay on course and eat as approved you could lose that 40 pounds.. Pat.. |
Hello all, Happy holidays. Here I am once again restarting medifast for the 10th time. I have a feeling that I will lose it this time. I got a couple of important events coming up in 2011 and want to be thinner by then. With help and support from my medifast friends on here, I know I can do it. I'll keep my progress posted each week. I started back today at 317lbs...
Was not on plan yesterday for the family Christmas dinner, but drank LOTS of water, just had a spoonful of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes (not the kind drenched in syrup), focused instead on green beans and turkey. Did have a rice noodle dish as our starter. Did not eat dessert, rice krispies treats or any other goodies. Gave away all the chocolate I got for Christmas. Did extra workouts at the gym this weekend. So, when I weighed in this morning, I was up .6.
Hope everyone else had a good Christmas!.. |
Hi Everyone,.
I will be receiving my shipment by the beginning of next week and I am excited and scared. You all sound so positive and I really appreciate that. I will keep reading your posts and join in when I begin the program. I am truly looking forward to getting to know all of you. Please give me your opinion - I have a hard time eating regular food. There are too many choices and I end up eating too much. Do any of you feel the same way about food? Has your obsession about food lessened by being on this program? Thanks... |
Yes I am like you. If I have too many choices I tend to overeat. I like Medifast because I have choices but they are all basic. My L&G is very basic. I like the ease of not having to worry about making special meals. I have tried some of the special reciepes people have made up using the Medifast foods.
I don't seem to obsess about what I can't have because of the good weight loss. When you get results it is easy to stick to the plan. Just don't let you emotions run wild and try to use food to fix it. It dosen't work.. This plan seems to ruin your past relationship with food. It no longer gives the pleasure it seemed to do before. It is just food, not your main focus of life. You become aware that it is not making you happy, even right at the time you eat it.. Pat.. |
Thank you for that insight, Pat. At work today I felt so bad about myself that I did not want to be seen. I love food but I hate it also. I am so looking forward to not having choices. The Lean and Green kind of scares me, though. But, I am going to do this and I feel that with friends like you and the others, I will get through the fear..
I weigh 278 lbs and I just turned 59 years old. My job is as a food service director for a local school district. I feel like such a fraud... my job is to see to it that healthy meals are being prepared for students and I look like this!! I am so done feeling like I do! I want energy, I want to look good, and I want to feel proud of myself and be an inspiration to the students. I just wish my shipment will get here!!. Take care, and I will check in again when I begin the program.. Thanks,. Andrea.. |
OMG, I never in my life thought I'd have 100# to loose, but here I am! I really started in Aug, did well, had some life situations, and totally went off program. I am re-starting, and ready to loose! Let's do this!..
Welcome to the group! I find it really helps to talk with others who also have 100+ to lose. Sometimes I have trouble identifying with people doing Medifast with 30 or 40 pounds to lose, but that's me thinking their propblem isn't as bad as mine, instead of understanding that for them that 30 or 40 pounds may be as hard to deal with as my 130+ pounds are..
Anyway, jump in to this program when you feel ready to make the changes in your life. I get a lot of support from different forums when my motivation is not as strong. I know when I am going into a "relapse" I stop posting and reading other people's posts because I don't want to face what I'm feeling. My resolution for 2011 is to keep showing up. Even if I fall off, come back and post and ask for help and support to pick myself back up and keep going. So start the program and keep coming back blog, use the boards make friends and call on them for support. We are all on this journey!.. |
Khatlaw,hi I have over a 100lb. to lose alsoI need to get my order to start.peache8y87..
Andrea,.
Don't let the L&G scare you. At first I found it the easiest to just do the basic meal.. I never used the George Forman Grill before, but it is great for a single lady like me.. I just throw on whatever lean I am eating, microwave a cooked veggie, and maybe. Have a cup of lettuce salad with dressing. Not exciting, but not really boring with all. The options of lean.. I still have over 100 pounds to lose and plan on staying on this program till I get there.. Jump right in and enjoy the benefits of the weight loss. You will notice such great. Changes even with just the first few pounds. The first week is usually a really big loss,. Then is slows up a bit. I know you can do it. I did and am still going strong after 3 months.. Pat.. |
Hi Everyone;.
Short info: I was 375 3 years ago, started eating low carb and made better choices when I was not totally on low carb. I am now 287. I've had some trouble gaining and loosing, but this is the first time I have been able to not gain back. Everything. As soon as I stopped loosing. I have also tried every diet known to man and I pretty much know that's not the way.. I had thought of Medifast before but now my Ortho Dr. wants to do a hip replacement and will not touch me until I loose 100#. I have a membership to a pool and have been going 2 times a week. I also plan to do Yoga for the "rest" of us. I hope even with a bad hip I can do more as I loose weight. My Dr. I have 6 children (all grown) 2 grandchildren. My daughters are very supportive.. I would still like to loose the rest of the weight after the 100#, so I need all the help I can get. I also would like to help support anyone here that needs it.. It will be hard work, but I think the lean and green will help. I feel that I can go to dinner and make good choices. And to have others who have to loose the same amount is so great... |
Hi everyone! My food was here when I arrived back from vacation, and I officially started today! It really was not as bad as I had thought it would be. I am just going to take it one day at a time, because 120 pounds is an awful lot to lose! I hope that it will be GONE by this time next year. Happy New Year, everyone!..
My name is Lisa and Im waiting for my Medifast shipment. I have read lots of inspirational stories and I cant wait to start. I kind of started on my own. Im eating healthy and I'm trying to drink lots of water. I weigh 264 pounds and my first goal is to get to 175. Then we will go down from there...
Today is my first day on Medifast. It is a cold winter day and it will be hard not have comfort food. I will drink a lot of herbal tea to keep warm. I am so tired of being heavy and my goal is to lose 120 pounds. My first goal is 20 pounds which will put at less than 100 pounds to lose...
I will be starting as soon as I receive my shipment. I have about 130 lbs to lose..
I have to admit that I am scared to hope that I will succeed. I believe that a great. Part of my success will be to communicate daily on these Community Boards.. I wish all of you a Happy New Year!. Kathy J... |
I cheated and stepped on the scale today...down 9 pounds since Friday! I know it is mostly water weight, but stillI am encouraged!..
Wow, lots of new people ready to get going on changing their lives! Congrats for making the decision. That's the first step. Using the boards for support, to brag, to vent it all helps..
Welcome!.. |
Hey, a pound is a pound...made of water or fat!.
It's my 4th day on MF, and I have found that I am looking forward to my lean and green meals something fierce every day! I think it's because the Medifast packets are so "blah" - which is a good thing because that alone helps retrain my food-focus - that I have never tasted anything as good as grilled shrimp, raw spinach and cucumbers... |
I just started (again) on 1-2-10. I am commited to changing my habits and looking forward to hearing everyone else's successes..
-a. Starting weight 275.. |
Getting to 100 pounds over my "normal" weight was a good wake-up call for me. Time for something to be done, lest it continue to creep upwards for the rest of my (shorter) life..
Weight Watchers has too many loopholes. Medifast doesn't have many, so it's more obvious when I'm abusing them.. 1 week down... done by next December?.. |
Welcome!! I confess I mainly use the shakes and the bars. I have not had much success trying the foods, and don't want to waste money buying a box of something I dislike! I do doctor the shakes with Torani sugar free syrups, and I sometimes mix the shakes with diet soda instead of water. Crushing up ice makes the shakes more like a smoothie, which is another variation I enjoy. I find focusing on "real" food for my L&G helps me retrain my tastebuds, and sticking to the shakes and bars gives me less room to cheat...
Hi, I would like to connect with everyone here. I got my Medifast food today, but because it is my husband's birthday Sunday, I am going to wait until Monday to start. I am trying not to eat all the "last bites" of my favorites. We are getting together for a family dinner I want to eat well, but not gain..
Best wishes for you all.. Patty.. |
Hi, Patty! Welcome, and happy birthday to your husband! :-) I look forward to getting to know you...
Hello All!! I am right smack dab in my first week. I started on Sunday. I had no intentions of weighing in until Sunday again, but I had a doctor appointment today and I have lost 4 pounds!! As mentioned I am sure that it is water weight, but it is just what I need to see to keep me motivated. I have over 140 pounds that I need to lose, so I have got to stick with it. I love all y'all ladies on here that bare your souls (gentlemen too) because it lets me know that the thoughts that I have aren't crazy. Hope everyone rides through the weekend safely and OP!!!..
Sounds like everyone is off to a great new year! I am 2/10ths of a pound away from losing my first 20#.
I'm pretty pleased to be making such good progress. I think going to the gym is really helping out. I am not a huge fan of exercising, but then who over 200 pounds is! I set myself a goal of going at least twice a week, and most weeks I am getting there 3 times. I stick a little star on the calendar the days I work out so I can tell at a glance if I am on target.. I am mainly using the treadmill at the gym, but have started using the elliptical. Since it kicks my butt (literally, I hope) I am only up to 5 minutes, so I do it after I have done my 40 minutes on the treadmill. What types of exercise are others doing?.. |
I go to the pool 2 times a week, I am doing exercise given to me by the physical therapist (did them for a year) I am going to do yoga by Peggy Cappy, arthritis DVD. I would like to walk but with a bad hip not possible right now. Anyone have any ideas for me? In my other post I got my food, they are in the bags for 7 days and I'm pretty much ready for Monday. Good work KHatlaw.
Patty.. |
How's everyone doing? Made it through the holidays OK? Sticking with the program?..
Hey, where is everyone? I hope that you are just posting on others threads, but are still here..
I am down 22 pounds since I started. Very pleased about that. Over half way to my goal to lose 40 by March 12th. Bad news is that the friend I was going to go on a cruise with that week can't go, so we're talking about going later in the summer. But I joined a Biggest Loser group at work to help me stay motivated. Ugh, I have to go do a weigh in in about 10 minutes. Plus, I usually weigh first thing in the morning, naked. Not doing THAT!.. |
Yeaaaaaaa for you, proud of you, keep up the good work. So nice that you have a group, I wish I did, but have to have my group here...
Huh, just lost my post, any congrats to everyone. I changed my banner but it didn't show my weight loss. so will try again..
This is my first week weigh in and I lost 8#. Feeling good not too hungry. Friend me if you want to.. Love from snowy Oregon.. |
Hey, where did everyone go? I'm still plugging away, and I hope you all are too!..
Hi everbody, thanks to those who sent me messages and looked at my just started blog. I am starting my 3rd week and it feels really good. I found that a couple of days I was full so actually.
Forgot. To eat. An entirely new consept for me. (ha) I have to go in fasting for Dr. Appt. on Wed, I wonder how that will go. I was a Little dissapointed at my 3# loss, but my body does what it wants I guess. Keep up your good work,. Love from snowy Oregon. Patty.. |
Three pounds is good! You are sticking to this and that's what's important. I noticed you are gifting yourself a Nook for your first minigoal I received a Kindle for my birthday and LOVE it. I can download new books by favorite authors the same day they are released, without having to pre-order and then wait for mail or having to run out to the bookstore...
Thanks, I'm being a little excessive, I also already have a Kindle and do love it, but I also want to download from the library e-books, I am little "cheap" and want to read currently without the cost! I also promised myself that I would read some of the classics that I missed, and those are free!!.
Patty.. |
Hey, I understand I love to read. Besides we have to reward outselves for progress, right!..
I'm hoping the lack of new posts is just that group members have been active on other boards! Hope everyone is doing well and sticking through our third month on MF...
