My 1st question is: When you sign up for the Medifast Diet they give you food? Many thanks for any answer. Another question I got... Hi I would like to start a thread for people who started this week and all through April 2011 so we could become a team!. |
I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could answer your Medifast question..

Hi! I'm starting on Saturday 4/2, so count me in! I weigh 380, so I have a long way to go!.
Jenni.. |
Hi there!.
I started 3/23, for the second time! the first time around I lost 50 pounds in 3 months. I was crazy to quit - I still had so far to go. after I left the plan I gained it ALL back and more. 2 weeks ago I was so disgusted with myself, but then just lying in bed that night, I realized that if I want to lose a drastic amount of weight, I have to do something drastic! so the next morning I ordered my medifast.. I'm 33, from PA, have 1 daughter, a husband, 4 cats, and work full-time.. Fitjenni - I have a long way to go too, and it's very daunting! but i'm thinking in terms of TODAY. if I can get through today, i'm proud of myself. so far, so good. I really have a good feeling this time.. Martley - I became obsessive with my scale my first time around - weighing myself at least every day and freaking out if I gained or didn't lose. I kept thinking - i'm only eating 900 calories a day! how can I NOT lose? but it turns out that I would have a big loss one week (-5) then the next week have a small loss (-1 or less). not sure why, but it was like a see-saw for the entire 3 months I was losing. either way, the weight was coming off steadily.. I am so excited this time, not like dreading it like I was last spring. my mom did medifast the same time I did (she didn't quit) and lost 75 pounds in 6 months. she still looks fantastic!!. Good luck to all of us!!!!! I hope we can all support each other through this L-O-N-G journey!.. |
Hi - I would love to Join in! I just started yesterday and have 120 pounds to lose (at the very least..lol). If I can do another 10-15 after that then I will be all set, but my main goal is to get to the top of the acceptable weight guidelines for my height and bone structure..
I am an emotional eater and starting now is very difficult because my Mom passed away 3 weeks ago. Her last words to all of us was to live a healthier lifestyle than we do and those of us who needed to lose weight to please start before our health goes south.. So here I am.. determined as ever.. a little weak right now in the sense my emotions are very boarderline. I just keep trying to keep her wishes in mind as I struggle inside to calm my nerves and sadness with sugar.... I hope I can be of support as well to everyone. I quit smoking 8 years ago, cold turkey, and at the time I thought it was the hardest thing I have ever done... I changed my mind, this is the hardest thing I have ever done. I have started and caved in on other diets about every other month for the past 3 years..and in the process added an extra 70 pounds in those. 3 years to my already 50 pound overweightness.. Enough said of me.. I live in Maryland and am going to be 54 this year.. it's time for a new me.. dont you think?.. |
WOW, it was great to wake up and find new friends here in our thread!!! We all have the same need to be successful, and we all have different "baggage" that we have to overcome, but hopefully we will find a way to do this together that will make us a group of successes! PEOPLE MAGAZINE here we come.
My motto is going to be "I will do my best", because like some of you have said, if you start a diet and fail, it is like "all or nothing" I failed for a week or so and we give up only to end up in a worse place. I am giving myself permission to "do the best I can" even if that means some days I "blow it", I just don't want a set back to spell another decade of giving up.. My first real "success" in losing weight and working out came about in 1998, I did it myself, got a calorie counter, exercised 6 days a week, dropped 55 lbs and reduced my body fat by 15% in six months, but then I had a couple of weeks of hecticness and didn't make the gym and gained back five pounds, got depressed and stopped, well you know what I would love to only weigh what I did back then even with that extra "5lbs" and wish I could have given myself permission to say "this isn't the end of the world, just "do the best you can tomorrow", but I didn't. Back then I was under 200lbs and now 13 years later I am just hoping I can get to 200lbs, so I hope I remember that along the way here.. I saw something in Reader's Digest that made me laugh, and although I have "perfected it a little" I love to think this "bumper sticker" represents me on this weight loss journey. "every morning when I get out of bed, the Devil says "Damn, she's up!". Weight Loss Warriors are here for you in good times and bad times when we slip, if it takes us a year or a lifetime we will strive towards our goals accepting the journey will not be perfect!!!. THANKS FOR JOINING!!!.. |
Hi ladies!.
I started 3/9 and on 3/11 my mother-in-law showed up, and I knew that there was no way that I would be able to stay on plan with her around. She left last night, and I restarted this morning.. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a late March/April starter, but if it does I would love to share this journey with you.. I am starting at 300 and I have long way to go too... |
I'm with you all too! I just got my first shipment of meals and am looking forward to starting tomorrow. I weigh in at 270 pounds and my ultimate goal it to be around 160. In the past year I have had a lot of life changes and my weight just went through the roof. It is time I take control back and I am so glad I found Medifast to help me do that. Good luck to us all! Looking forward to getting tips, advice, and encouragement from you all!.
Optimistic,. Goldi.. |

HI EVERYBODY - TODAY IS DAY 2 FOR ME AND GOT A REALLY AWFUL HEADACHE; I READ IT GETS EASIER AFTER DAY 4 SO I'M GOING LIKE A TROOPER; HAVE A GREAT OP DAY!..

Hi all,.
I would like to join this group if I may. Last time I weighed I was 225 *gulp* and would like to lose 100lbs. I actualy started in Jan but had to stop due to financial issues. I saved my last week of food so then when I could go back on I wouldn't have to waite until my new shipment got here to get started. Well I'm excited to say I'll be starting back on April 1st and a cool thing is I've tried alot of the food already so when I order on Friday I know what to get... Oh and I already have my Ninja=D. Audrey.. |
Count me in, too. My first shipment arrives tomorrow, and I am psyched to get started. I can't explain it, but I have SUCH a good feeling about this program..
I'm a little nervous (ok, more than a little, lol) about the first few days, but am determined to stick with it to get to the other side of the initial phase. Can't wait to have all the energy people describe - it'll be wonderful to feel like that again.. I'm 48, married with a 14 yo beautiful daughter. We all struggle with weight - my DD has the best approach to weight loss, very common-sense of exercise and cutting back on junk. My hubby and I need more help. He's using the prescription version of Alli. I'm going this route. (We're not competing; just wishing the best for one another.). It's such an individual journey, and am glad to have you folks here to share it with. Good luck to us all.. |
Welcome to all who have joined us, at least we know we are not alone!!!..

Hi WLWs,.
I am starting my fourth week and found myself hitting a mental wall today, so I thought I'd come to this forum to be inspired by all of you and your stories. I gained a chunk of weight with my first child back in 2002, and have had a heck of a time getting it off since. My starting weight was 234, and so far I've lost 12 lbs.. My sister lost over 30 lbs on Medifast this fall, and has been successful in keeping it off.. My short term goal is to get down into "onederland" and never look back! I'd like to do this by mid-May, and get down to a weight were I can do a light jog and not have to take a week off to let my joints recover.. My long term goal is to be in the 150's and regain a high level of fitness. I'll turn 40 in 2014, and I want to join my girlfriends from college in completing a marathon!. I'm excited to hear more about your stories and strategies for success... |
It sounds like we have a lot of great people in this group! I am happy to be in a group of others that are starting around the same time as I am. Tomorrow (Wednesday) will be my first weigh-in. The first time I was on Medifast I lost 8 pounds that first week. I don't think I lost anywhere near that this time but I know there's a loss waiting for me tomorrow! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm excited to get on the scale tomorrow! I'll be sure to update my weight first thing so I can share with everyone..
What is the easiest thing about this diet for you all? What is the hardest?. For me, the easiest is never having to count calories, try to measure portions, count points, or try to figure out if I'm "allowed" to eat a certain food ('cause chances are I'm not... hah) or how much of a certain food is ok. It's easy - 5 Medifast meals and a healthy lean & green.. The hardest thing is the afternoons and early evenings. My job requires me to spend all day in people's homes, schools, and my car. I usually have the oatmeal for breakfast, but throughout my day my options are pretty limited to the bars. I hate the puffs/pretzels. the bars are NOT filling for me. Some days I have the chance to come home at some point in the middle of the day so I can make the soup, which fills me up very well, but on the other days... Knowing at 3 that I'm really hungry but won't get home until 630 or 7... even if I eat another bar I'd still be hungry. If I had an office job and had access to a microwave I could make myself soup for lunch and still fuller longer. I tried making the oatmeal muffins but they don't keep me fully any longer than the bars. I also tried putting the soup in my thermos, but it's kind of awkward to pull out a thermos at a client's home in the middle of a session and say, Do you mind if I eat my weird lunch? Haaha. Hopefully I'll have more options to eat lunch in the office instead of on the road.. Anyway, I'm eager to hear about your experiences and hopefully we can help each other out with our struggles. Good luck to ALL!!!. Renee.. |
Sooo..... one week down and -7.2 pounds. I love Medifast!!!..
Congrats Renee thats an awsome loss. For me the easiest thing about Medifast is the food, Just blend, freeze, or unwrap for me and eat. The hardest thing for me is dealing with social situations. My friends like to go to bars have house parties ect and I still go but stick to diet soda and my Medifast foods. At least thats what I did in January when I first went on MF. I'm starting again on Friday and Saturday we are throwing a BBQ at my house.
Once I was at a party that lasted all night I pulled out my bar for brekfast and my friend says oh that smellsgood. I told her "you touch that bar and I'll hurt you... seriously" lol.. Audrey.. |
Wow, congrats Renee! My first delivery is arriving today. I can't wait to be able to post a similar loss next week :-).

Hello everyone....
I was so happy to see this thread and would love to join in! It is always so much better to not be the only "new girl". Anyway I am expecting my first shipment of product today and can't wait to get started tomorrow. I also have 100+ pounds to lose (for some reason that little plus sign makes me feel better than then actual number) and have tried several programs in the past, but never this one. I am hoping this will be the one and I actually am feeling very good about it. A co-worker has been shedding weight like crazy and when I asked her how, she told me about Medifast. I never thought about it as an option for me, because I just was not totally aware of what it was or how it worked. I am 40, have one daughter in college, a fluffy little shih tzu and I live in northern California, about 50 miles east of San Francisco.. I can't wait to get to know all of you and I WISH EVERYONE SO MUCH SUCCESS, hopefully we can inspire each other!!!.. |
Today was my day one, and so far so good (except for the chicken soup I exploded in my microwave!). I have only felt hungry once, but am holding strong. Getting ready to go make my first lean and green meal. Wish me luck!.
Stay optimistic!. Goldi.. |

CONGRATS kittyfelon.
Vbmenu_register("postmenu_1963367", true);. !!!. You are the first WLW to post a weight and it is a great loss. As I have made an agreement with my Doctor to only get weighed in at her office about every 4 weeks, it will be some time before I get to see my first results, but I am trying hard to not get tempted to weigh anywhere else, as that has been my downfall before.. I have a good feeling about the group everyone keep in touch cuz when one of us is down, it is going to take the pack to help raise us back up!.. |
Hi there! I started on Sunday 3/27 (my sons 3rd birthday!) and have about 97 pounds to lose according to Medifast center, I think it will be more but for now, baby steps. Let me see the first 10, then 30 and we'll go from there..
I have 2 sons 10 and 3 they are both very active and it's hard for me to keep up, so I needed to do something. My mom was recently diagnoised with type 2 diabetes and I don't want that to be me. If I get it I want it to be because of genetics not because I am overweight. So for myself I have decided it is time to get healthy, no time like the present. I am 36 years old and have been overweight my entire life I come from a family of obese people. I want different for my kids, I want them to see what healthy living and eating is like. These 5 days have been easy. I am so NOT a fan of the oatmeal (maple brown sugar) and the chili isn't bad once you add some spice to it, but the bars and shakes are the way for me. I haven't been hungry (except today?) and it's been easy.. I have a weigh in on Saturday... I can't weight (ha ha).. |
Hi guys! I have some suggestions for making SOME of the foods more edible, as Labordel posts some of the foods are not very good. You're right - they're not. Here's some tips. For the Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal, after cooking 1:30 in the microwave, add about 2 Tbsps of Sugar Free Maple Syrup. It's the only way I can eat it and I eat it EVERY morning for breakfast!! For the chili, I add 2 shakes of Chili Powder and 1/2 cup canned diced tomatoes. I let simmer on the stove for a good 10-15 minutes.
Sometimes I'll add a bag of the smooshed up crackers. VERY filling. You can do the same with the chicken noodle - I always add salt & pepper and crackers to the bowl. It's the perfect lunch because it keeps me going all afternoon.. The shakes are nasty and I never order them anymore. The eggs, too, and the cream soups. Blech.. The pudding is okay - a little grainy for my taste. So, I make them into a baked dessert by adding egg beaters, vanilla, and a packet of splenda. I cook in the microwave and it puffs up something delicious. There is a recipe for this floating around the message boards somewhere - I don't have the exact measurements because it's been awhile since I've made it.. Also - you can put a packet or 2 of splenda in any of the oatmeals - I love the peach & blueberry with splenda. Also, the apple/cinnamon I add a packet of splenda and some cinnamon. I add some extra water when cooking the oatmeal too, so it doesn't get to thick and gross. I like my oatmeal a little runny.. The pancakes are delish but I usually only make them at the end of the day and when I find myself with 2 meals left. Just one packet makes 2 quarter-sized pancakes for me - like 3 bites and I'm done. So I add 2 packets together and get more pancakes. I add light margarine (just a smidge) and 1/4 cup of the sugar free maple syrup. I asked about this a long time ago to the nutrition boards and they told me YES this recipe is ON PLAN. I certainly hope so - how else would we eat our pancakes??. I am thinking of trying the ready made shakes - has anyone else ordered these? These would be great for me since I travel for my job and never have a place to 'prepare' anything. I like the Slim Fast shakes - if these shakes taste similar it might be worth a try for me.. Happy day everyone!. Renee.. |
I'd like to join here too! I had my first weigh in on Monday and I was down 12lbs! I'm very excited about Medifast..
I can't stomach the Chocolate Pudding so any recipe with it is much appreciated! Also the Strawberry Shake, ugh, gag.. I tend to really like the shakes and the bars oh and the brownies!. Hope every one has a wonderful lighter week!.. |
I'd definitely like to join! I started 5 days ago. I'm already down 7lbs..woohoo! My starting weight is 267.2 and my goal weight is 140. Can't wait to get to know all of you!.
Michelle.. |

Hi - I want to join. I actually started several months again but did not start using MyMedifast page until today. Trying to figure out the Ticker - how do I get it to display?.
.. |
I am also a Late March Medifast Started. I started on March 28th for the first time. I have been up and down in my weight for 16 years now (ever since the birth of my first DD). I had my first weight-in on Monday and was down 10lbs. So it has been a great start and I can't wait to see a smaller me over the months ahead. I have to say that the first week was a little tough, I had a few headaches in the middle of the week but am doing good now.
I look forward to building friendships along the way and help out when I can.. Susan.. |
Halfway through Day 1. So far, Choc shake, Cappucino, and Chicken Noodle Soup. All the foods have a thickness that will take a day or two for me to get used to. Looking forward to my first bar this afternoon..
Am going to have to check out making the shake with a blender. The shaker cup doesn't cut it, I was hoping not to have to buy another kitchen appliance, but am going to now that i've seen how thick the food is.. It's interesting about how my hunger is. I am completely satisfied at the end of each meal, but it doesn't stay with me more than an hour and a half or so. By the time I can eat again, I'm pretty hungry. And so the cycle continues.. But so far, so good... |
Hi everyone! Do you mind if I invite myself to your group? I just ordered my Medifast food today and am recommiting myself to getting healthy again. I was on Medifast about 3 years ago and it was phenomenal. I lost about 50 pounds and was feeling great. Of course, I fell off the wagon and gained it all - and more - back. The sad thing... I got the lapband surgery a few years ago and I still cannot seem to lose the weight.
I can lose the weight when I put my mind to it, but frankly, my heart just hasn't been in it the past year or so.. But, fast forward to today, and I am releasing all of the old baggage and starting over. I know I can do this. In all honesty, I have to do this! I have no health issues thankfully at this point, but I know if I keep this up I will end up w/ a whole heap full of 'em. Besides, we're going on a family cruise at the end of September and I'd love to take a famliy picture without feeling embarassed, and get into a swimsuit without feeling like a giant white whale.. A little about me... I am 37, live in Las Vegas, have 3 boys (ages 9 and 6 year old twins, married, and am the typical crazy busy working mom/soccer mom/try to do it all kind of person. I work (very) full time for a software company from home but travel quite a bit for work - which leads me to another thing I'd love to fix about myself... actually fitting comfortably in an airplane seat without feeling like I'm encroaching on the person next to me.. Thanks for listening to my diatribe! I look forward to getting to know you all and beginning (or re-beginning) our weight loss journies together.. Steph. (I need to set up my ticker but I am 242 right now and want to lose 100 lbs).. |
I really like the shaker bottle with the metal ball insert, I thought this was well worth the purchase, I find I don't get any gritty lumps using this to mix my shakes, I actually bought one to keep at work too..
I learned from the first time around using Medifast that I don't like any of the "food" options like soups, oatmeal etc. I am strictly drinks, crunch bars, pretzel sticks and then the maintenance bars (one per day). Although I like the choco-mint one, it is so hard to bite into I am worried (seriously) about taking out a tooth or filling, so I am probably not going to order those again.. I eat "warm" food with my daily lean and green and don't change anything with the Medifast stuff, but this is week one so who knows!.. |
Count me in too! I plan to lose 110 lbs. I started yesterday, on 3/30. I love the idea of a support group - anything to keep me motivated and on track...
Hello,.
I am joining in here. I need to lose 30 pounds. I have lost 11 on my own, and got stuck so decided to try Medifast.. This is my first day, and I am struggling to like this food. I can't imagine how I will get through the day with just 5 of these meals and one lean and green. I am hungry after about an hour of eating one of the Medifast items.. Does this get better? Will my stomach shrink to where I won't be hungry all the time?. Denise.. |
Today was my day two and I am still trying to purge my house of all the food I don't need to eat anymore. In a moment of weakness I had some left over homemade mac and cheese. I feel a little guilty, but not too bad since I know that I made it with LF margarine, LF milk, and LF cheese. I just wish I hadn't done it... and it wasn't even really worth it. But that is in the past now, and I am only looking to the future..
I tried the honey mustard pretzels today and about gagged.... yuck! But I do like the oatmeal, cappuccino, chicken and rice soup, and brownie so far.. I want so bad to make this a LIFE change so I am not going to beat myself up about having a slip up now and then. I am just going to get back on the horse and keep plugging away. My goal is to have no more than 1 slip up a month though.. Staying optimistic!. Goldi.. |
Hey there Everyone.
I am going to just jump in here....I restarted Medifast 3/28. I am a "Veteran" MF'er. I did Medifast for the first time in 2006 and lost 50 lbs. I am 15lbs from where I left off years ago. I have tried and tried many times to restart Medifast because that is the ONLY program that works for me. However, I kept getting stuck into medical issues and had to stop, each time reordering because I knew I would start again.. Anyway, I am still having issues but I am ignoring them for now and focusing on losing weight.. I have 4 children: 15, 11, twin girls 8 and I am from Las Vegas.. It helps to soak your food in the fridge before cooking to absorb all the powder.. Loved that quote, Cant Weight to Weigh In :-). Renee, you should soak the eggs in the fridge for a bit before cooking.. I like the pancakes mix, and it turns out even better when I use the waffle maker :-). Yes, I drink the Ready to Drink shakes. The first time I Medifast that was the only thing I had besides the Bars. In between I tried to use others.... and now that is what Im going to do this time around cuz it worked for me the first time.. Steph, soo funny we are both from VEGAS with TWINS!!!. If you hadnt figured it out yet, I'll help you with the ticker. It makes a HUGE difference.. |
Nearing the end of Day 1. The AM felt easier than I expected; the afternoon, I was hungrier than I'd anticipated. I ended up drinking an additional shake to take the edge off..
I'm planning on salmon and veggies for dinner. I've had my 5 Medifast meals already, so if I can stop at taht, I will. Otherwise, i'll try the pudding tonight.. Loved loved loved the cappucino! I'm not normally a huge fan of cappucino, but this stuff frothed up in the microwave. And I think may have soy milk in it, which is what I typically use for my coffee. So it tasted familiar, which was a nice surprise.. It occurred to me on the way to my car after work, for all the enjoyment I had putting all this weight on, maybe paying the price for a few days to get into ketosis is a pretty good deal. Good thing it won't take as many days to pay back my debt to being overweight, as it did in getting here! I'd be in trouble, lol.. |
@ Denise, I'm hoping the same thing! I'm so hungry, and have had the lightheaded feeling. Let's hang in there - they say after Day 3, it gets easier. Two more days, we CAN DO this thing!!!..
I'd like to join all of you on this journey. I'm 43 yo w/ an 18 yo daughter starting college in the fall. Looking back, I realize how much I missed doing with her as she was growing up because I hated the way I looked, couldn't move around like I'd like or I was just too tired. I have 100+ lbs to lose and this is Day 2 for me. I did Medifast in the past but had to stop due to financial issues. Now I realize I'm worth the cost to finally make a change for the better.
I look forward to getting to know everybody!.. |
Hey all...well Im a "re-comitter" LOL...and started back up again this Monday so it's day four for me and I am starting to not feel as HUNGRY as when You first start out!.
My overall highest weight was 380 and I currently weigh 257 and lost so far with Medifast 101 pounds....I have 97 more pounds to go to reach my goal of 160...so I ll be around for awhile LOL...... |
I so know what you mean by this. I have a daughter about the same age and have also missed so much for the very same reasons. I am hoping that I can finally take charge and change the way I look and feel...because I don't want to miss anymore..
With that said, I got my first order in today and can't wait to start tomorrow!!! I am getting really excited reading what everyone has to say...so I really am beginning to feel like I can do this thing!.. |
YAY! I'm so glad we have a big group of dieters to go through this with together. It helps to hear about others going through the same thing!!.
Does anyone have any great ideas for yummy Lean & Greens? Here are a few of mine:. My all time fave is chicken salad - lettuce, tomato, grilled chicken and Good Seasons homemade Italian dressing (the dressing is barely on plan but there's no way I could live on salads without it). I also eat steak and veggies a lot - in the summer I grill zucchini and other summer veges. I LOVE shish-ka-bobs on the grill with chicken/steak, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppers, & onions. mmmm. Last night I made a yummy omelet with 3 eggs, cut up onions/green peppers/mushrooms/tomatoes. Added a smidge of lowfat cheese to the top with salt/pepper. It sounds like everyone that's had their first weigh-in is pleased with the results!! I know I sure am!. Toni - I agree with you that Medifast is the ONLY program that works for me. I have lost weight on others - briefly - but can't manage to stay on the programs for more than a week or 2. Earlier in January I started WW, lost 4 pounds the first week and then completely stopped because I got soooo tired of counting points. It felt like it consumed my entire day. I know WW works if you can stick with it - but it was nearly impossible for me to stick with it because of how time-consuming it was. Medifast is difficult to stick with too - it usually starts out pretty rough with the ketosis thing and all, and even once you get used to it there are always temptations around every corner. 7 pounds in one week? Some of you say 10-12 pounds your first week? Amazing! What other weight loss plan gives you that kind of incentive to keep going?. Good luck everyone and keep posting!.. |
Day 2. Started off with scrambled eggs; made on stove with a tiny bit of olive oil, white pepper and garlic powder. Smelled good; consistency? not so much. put them aside, and am having an orange creme shake. Much better. I may see if I can figure out a way to put the already-cooked eggs into something else, otherwise, out they go.
The eggs aren't for me; but I'm 50/50 on regular scrambled eggs too, so this wasn't a big surprise. Just want to give everything a fair shake. Jenn.. |
Hi All!.
Do you have room for one more? I just finished Week 1 (started on 3/23). Had a great first week, 6 lb loss. It's nice to have people to chat with who are at the same stage of the program with me.. I look forward to getting to know everyone!.. |
Day three here I come!... Well, I am taking a different approach to my medifast plan until things calm down for me a little. I have family coming into town next week, and then the week after that my husband and I will be traveling to PA for a huge family event. I am going to do my best during these next couple weeks, but I am not going to beat myself up if I don't stick to the plan 100% for the next couple weeks. I do WANT to stick to it 100%, but if I slip I refuse to beat myself up... I've done enough of that in the past year..
Is anyone else from DFW?. I am also starting a ZUMBA class next week. I am really excited about that. Has anyone else tried ZUMBA?. Stay Optimistic!. Goldi.. |
That is awesome! You will have a great time =).
Good Morning Everyone =). I think I forgot to eat my last meal last night, bad girl! I just cant seem to remember how many Ive had during the day, even though I count them.. Back on track though, so glad it's FRIDAY!.. |
Another thought -.
We should come up with a name for our Group. Suggest a few, then we'll set up a vote =).. |

Well I am on day 6 and I feel like I am getting in the groove. I really make the most of making sure my lean and green is a tasty meal staying OP though and try to stay away from temptations. Yesterday I had a mini panic attack in the car (ok a little dramatic) but all of the sudden I was driving down the road of restaurants I love and was like "oh I want to eat that or gosh can I smell the burger king grill from here etc..
I just said to myself, it's going to be ok, and acknowledged what I was feeling, without beating myself up, but also without letting myself drift.. It is hard for me not to weigh myself, and I know that it is critical that I do not weigh myself outside of the agreement with my Doctor to do it once a month, but I am hopeful that if I stick OP I will have a reward in a few weeks time.. I think the thing that really worries me most is that "slipping" on this plan isn't a matter of writing off "one day" but effects you for days after, ie. one slipped day means another 2-5 days before you are back in ketosis so I have to remind myself I made it through to Day 6 and I don't want to "start" over.. All of you with children and others living with you that are still eating other foods I admire, I am "lucky" that I am single and can literally have nothing in my house but Medifast foods, you deserve credit for your extra will power... |

Hi.
I kind of named us in the thread the "Weigh Loss Warriors" because I felt it described best the battle we all fight everyday..... |
Hi Everyone!.
I think I have send friend requests to everyone that has posted so far, but if I missed you, send me one. I think that having a support system is critical in the weight loss process. I have tried MANY things before and have had short term success. I am on day 5 of Medifast and feel pretty good. I had a headache and was hungry on day 2, but have been fine since. I am down 6 pounds already. In reality, most of it isn't that bad. My second order, a month supply, should arrive today.. I am a former nurse. I decided to stay at home with our 2 year old when my husband was relocated from Nashville to Memphis 3 years ago. In July 2009, I gave birth to twins. And I am currently working Part time at our church as the Preschool Minister.. My favorite Medifast food is the brownies. It is so worth the time of baking them instead of microwaving them. I just got a personal blender today so I could try the soft serve. I am not a huge fan of the Mango, but it is edible... |
Martley - that is an awesome name for the group, although I would verify that there is none already listed on the board, I think I remember seeing this name somewhere... :-/.
Us at home with Kids, that will power for me is HARD!!. Sunshine - I too have girl twins, they are 8 now. How old are yours?.. |
Hallie will be 5 in June. The twins, Isaac and Aaliyah, will be 2 the end of July...
Day #2 for me today. I have already figured out that my worst time is from 10-1. I am so hungry in the mid morning. I have decided to split up my LG and had a 1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes, and wow did that help Just to have something living, and crunchy. Almost like eating grapes. So far I really like the chili flavored puffs with a Diet Coke.
I am doing okay. Feeling tired today, but hanging in there. I am better then yesterday.. Sunshine37135, I have twins also! Mine are boys and are now almost 5. You can see pics of them on my MFpage. We have a lot in common!. Onward and Upward!. Denise.. |
Denise, I am such a coke addict, Diet Coke that is ;-) Its like eating doritos with a drink..
Ive tried many many times to quit because of health issues but I dont think I can unless there is something very serious, and to be honest with you, Im not sure I even like the taste anymore, but when I dont have it, I'll go CRAZY!.. |
Today marks the end of my first week! I'm thrilled with how easy this has been and especially once I got into ketosis!.
I am a financial advisor in central Illinois. It is a fairly new career for me. I'm also recently divorced and trying to find happiness with myself again. I don't have kids but have a yellow lab and a black lab that are the LOVES of my life!. I wish I could explain how I just feel it down to my toes that this is my time! I'm so ready for this I feel like my goals are just a matter of time. I already can't imagine going back to my old unhealthy ways. I'm hoping shedding this unwanted weight will help me shed the unwanted left over emotions from a horrible relationship.. I'm excited to meet and get to know and cheer each and everyone of you on for this Medifast journey! I hope you all have a fantastic OP weekend!. Michelle.. |
Can anyone better explain ketosis to me? I'm starting to think maybe I am not doing something right. I'm only on day three, but am just wanting to make sure I'm doing this right. Thanks ladies!..
LOL, Im becoming a diet coke crazy person now too...I dont know why...but I'm surely going to be getting some this weekend LOL....
How many do you drink a day.. |
Hey thats great thaat you made it all week. Im assuming you should be in ketosis now perhaps but I'm not sure LOL..
Its a good thing that you are taking the time for you to become healthier and try to shed them, pounds away LOL...thats what I'm trying to do..better myself.... And I know what you mean with the LABS...I had a choc lab and well....we were attached to the hip and then I had to Put him down this year. ..... Hope you have a great weekend!.. |
Oh and I hope each and all of you have a great weekend....
Any Monday weighers in here? If so I look forward to your success of weightloss this Monday weigh in!.. |
Awesome name for this group love it; WeightLoss Warriors; cool!.
I can hardly wait for my first official WI; am not finding any of the mango products to be my favs, lol! Have a great OP weekend everyone!.. |
Please let me join too! I have been away from Medifast for awhile, always looking for the next best thing but always come back here because I know this works!I've been doing the new WWs and like one poster said, it works but I need not to have so much to choose from because that is where I go wrong. I also worry about money but I spend a lot each day just on fast food so I know I can do it, I think it's just putting out all of that at one time, just in case I don't stick with it. I am an RN, I teach nursing, and I am also a legal nurse consultant but because my knees are so bad, I can't work in the hospital anymore and it's difficult to get out and market my business so I have to do this! Like some of the others, it just feels right this time! So glad I found this thread...
Steph, Im almost embarrased to say but I think somewhere around 5-6 per day.
Also, I cant help but be a daily weigher.. |
LOL, well Im a about...id say 2 right now.....have you noticed if it slows down weightloss at all..I was kinda using as an experiment to see if it would slow my weightloss down..but surely is a treat for me to look forward during the day...Well....we see what Monday weigh in brings lol..
Today was day 1 for me and so far so good. I just had the bars and the shakes earlier today and then some tilapia and a green salad for my LG...gonna try the pudding tonight. I really want to eat something, but I am not hungry...I think I am just so used to eating constantly it is now a habit. Oh well, so far I have been able to make it through this day and now I am gonna eat my pudding and go to bed before I screw it up...
I have completed my first week and I feel great. I took about a 20 minute fast paced walk today at lunch. I even picked weeds tonight, something I wouldn't have normally done. I feel like I have energy, my attitude is great (well, maybe we should ask my husband!) But it was easy and I can't wait to start week 2. I weigh in tomorrow but I sneaked a peak the other day and I was already down 7 but that was on my scale at home. So I am not too set on that number, just an idea that it was coming off. Now my big project tomorrow is Mount Washmore (the never ending pile of laundry!) Have a good weekend everyone and keep up the good work!..

Hi Everybody!!.
Hopefully I am not too late to join! Once I saw the posting/struggling with the diet coke I knew I found my group. For me it is Coke Zero it is like my pacifier. When anything goes wrong it is the first thing I grab besides food..so I am cutting back slowly to one a day but it is going to be a little bit. Today was my first day so I have awhile until my first weigh in. I have tried every diet known to man and lost the same 10 pound. I joke that I have lost over 100 pounds in the last three years but honestly it is the truth. 185 down to 165, back up to 180 down to 170, back up to 185, down to 165, on and on. I have always struggled with my weight but after my divorce 3 years ago I just let it go. I have a couple of friends who have lost over 100+ pound and they have lead me to the program so I can stop the yo-yo dieting before my health gets worst. I went on high blood pressure medicine a year ago. I like the plan because it is simple. I am so glad the group was started; I know I need the emotional support and then to see that it is so active I really got excited. I hope I can be here for any of you when you are struggling, I know when I am, being alone in it is ______ and never in my best interest. I just keep telling myself whats more important you or the food. I am in Kansas, we do not have local facilities it is all on-line, is anyone else in areas like that???. KJ.. |
Hey all,.
Mind if I join? I just started w/ a full day yesterday and am very psyched!. This seems like a good plan!. So far, can't quite get the brownies to cook right.. the soup, meh, shakes, eck, bars - YES - esp. the choc and peanut butter ones.. I just put peanut butter on one and OMG - amazing. the mango soft-serve.. very drippy. I shall be ordering many bars, but that is cool. I also like the oatmeal raisin ones. good stuff.. I am married and am a mom of two boys, ages 3 and 1. After two complicated pregnancies and being on bedrest, I find myself in dyer need of a program like this. I have been overweight all my life and I'm so sick and tired of being plague by it. Though eating is enjoyable and it should be, I'm really wanting to get serious about stopping binge-eating and waking up and living a real, healthy life.. I, like many, have cut a bunch of drama out of my life and am hoping I can move on w/ the help of this program!. Looking forward to sharing tips and recipes and to helping each other out!. ~Morgan.. |

Hello!.
I'm into my 3rd week. I've lost over 10 lbs (my weigh in is Wed). So, my story is this.. I have 5 children. Bruk 17, Erik & Aaron 14, Alex 13 and Sydnee soon to be 3! I've been married for 19 years next month and over weight for 50% of it. I thought I had it under control before my last child, but I totally went over board with the phrase "eating for two.. I've been trying to lose the weight I gained during my pregnancy for 2.5 years. I lost some and gained more.. A few months a go a gal I've know for almost know for 20 years was at a crop (scrapbooking) and mentioned to me that her mom, whom I also know, had lost 50 lbs on MF. She said for the first time in her life she wasn't the thinnest one in the family anymore! Her mom would have giggled if she'd been there. I started to do a little research and finally after months of soul searching bought my first month. I hit a little bump, but it was a good bump! It was a "ah ha" moment and I've move passed it.. To answer the question of what's the hardest, what's the easiest?. Hardest is the afternoon when all my kids are home, dinner time and the weekends when everyone is home. But I'm learning what my triggers are and am successfully working through them. Day by day and sometimes minute by minute.. The easiest...not having to plan a meal! I keep it simple.. Advice...drink lots and lots of water! Eat every 2-3 hours! Think, journal and smile! A lot!. I want to lose 101 lbs. Then I'll see if I want to lose a little more. I'm with you girls...lets kick some serious you know what!!!. Tracy.. |
Welcome to all the new members.
KJ- I am totally committed to coke zero, and like coke plus as well.. I try not to buy any cases for the house and just buy daily, although now I stop quite a bit. Tracy - awesome you've got some twins, there are 2 others in this group who do. My girls are 8. One of them is named Erika after her dad Erik lol.. |
Wow, you are all doing so well!.
I just got my first shipment tonight, and I am so excited to start tomorrow!. I plan to have: Chocolate Ready to go Shake, Oatmeal, Cream of Chicken Soup, Fruit Punch and Banana Shake. For my Lean and Green I'm going to make a taco salad with romaine lettuce, mushrooms and cooked lean ground turkey with hot salsa on top.. How do I get the weight loss ticker from my webpage here?. Jenni.. |

Hello Weight Loss Warriors!.
I'd love to join you all. How encouraging to find a group of people with similar goals and many in the same situation as myself - SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!. I started medifast on 3/24/11 and want to lose 121 pounds. I've been searching the boards and blogs for tips and I've decided it would really help me to "connect" with others on similar journies. Having the encouragement and connection with other people who may be struggling or have struggled with the same issues really helps me to feel like I'm not in this alone (as it sometimes feels).. A little about me. I'm in Tennessee, have a 4 year old son and a wonderful husband. I've been overweight and on some diet or another for as long as I can remember. It was getting to the point where every night when I went to bed and every morning I woke up, my first thought would be "I need to lose weight!". So far, I've lost 13 pounds and I love this program because it is so easy - there's not a lot of planning that has to be done and entering my food log everyday keeps me accountable.. I've never been a part of a online group like this. How exactly does it work? Will there be new posts every week? New topics? Just asking b/c I don't know... |
I haven't actually started yet, have to wait for the delivery but was on here to psych myself up and found this thread. I have a couple of friends who swear by this program and am determined to make this work. Currently 228.5 and have at least 100 to go. Previously lost 60 on WW and have managed to keep 32 of it off for a couple of years but lately just can't seem to lose in spite of doing Zumba 3 times a week. I look forward to sharing the journey with all of you...

Hello and welcome! I think many of us are learning as we go here. I am on day 4 and am really liking the plan so far. I love the shakes, esp the banana, and the blueberry oatmeal is really good. This morning I had a hot choc, but I mixed it with my coffee instead of water and it was amazing! There is actually a forum on here where people just give recipes of different things to make with the Medifast food that is still on plan. I've heard that the pancake mix cinnamon bun is to die for..
I am just starting slowly. For me this was a huge change and I didn't want to get overwhelmed and discouraged, so I am doing the 5 and 1, but for my lean and green I weigh my protein, but I might have some extra veg and I don't count condiments yet. As long as my meal is L&G I don't think a extra dash of spice going to totally kill my plan, if you know what I mean. This is going to be a long journey for me so I don't want to be so strict on myself that I lose momentum and give up. Everyone is different in how they approach it.. There are a lot of good threads on here and lots of people willing to help.. There is thing on the community home page in the lower left hand corner called a 'ticker builder' or something like that. It walks you through building a ticker and then you just have to copy and paste the code it gives you at the end of your message. How you update it... I haven't gotten that far. haha!. Good luck to you and I hope my words have helped you in some way! You are welcome to 'friend' me too if you want!. Stay optimistic!. Goldi.. |
I just started yesterday, April 1st and would love to join this group! My goal is to lose 57 lbs. I am amazed by all the success stories I've read here on the discussion board and look forward to submitting my own as well as reading all of yours!..

Hey everyone, glad to see so many eager people on the same journey as myself. It helps not having to do this alone. Yesterday was a tough day as that is the night we usually go out to dinner, I stayed OP and had a salad with chicken and turkey. My next WI is Monday but I sneaked the scale this morning and it looks like I am down another 2. I definitely feel more energy even in these first 2 weeks. So far I like the bars (of course), the shakes are not bad, the pancakes were good, and actually I like the eggs.
Add the water, let it sit for 30 minutes (so the powder complete dissolves) microwave for 45 secs and stir, and then microwave again for 30 secs. I add a little sea salt for taste and it isn't bad. I am still working on the brownie as it just doesn't taste right when I microwave it. I tried the chicken noodle soup and just couldn't finish it. I really need to find a soup I like because I like to have soup for lunch (makes me think I am having a real meal rather than a bar or shake). Susan.. |
Are you drinking water? I am just three days in the programme... the water is helping me.....
I GOTTA SAY I AM VERY HAPPY! My first WI.
-10 lbs.. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!.. |
Weekends are usually the hardest for me while I'm trying to lose weight. There is a lot more time for "splurging" on the weekends compared to the work week. However, I'm happy to report that I have made it through my first Saturday OP. Kind of got thrown off timewise since I got up 3 hours later today than I usually do during the week so it felt like I was trying to cram all the food in!.
My first weigh in will be Monday. Anticipating good results. I think I finally have reached the point that I CAN do this. Thank goodness!. Can't wait to hear how everyone is making out. I like pretty much everything I've tried but I am having a really hard time getting the Maple/Brown sugar Oatmeal down. Any suggestions? It really has the consistency of paste... |
Day One for me! I have had four MediFast meals so far. I had the oatmeal (ok, not very tasty), the ready to drink chocolate shake (I like that one!), fruit punch drink and cream of chicken soup. The soup was pretty decent once I had a dash of salt and a heap of pepper added to it. I also have had water and black coffee..
I feel fine so far, but I am really looking forward to my Lean and Green turkey salsa salad tonight!. What do the health coaches do? Do you all have one? Should I get one?. Jenni.. |
I've seen a few people talking about their 'health coach'. I'm not sure what that is or where you sign up for one, but I would be interested too. Anyone have any ideas?..
I wanted to let everyone know that I have stared a new book called "A Course in Weight Loss" and it has been amazing so far. It is a book of 21 inspirational lessons and each lesson has a task that you must do before moving on to the next lesson. There are also pretty powerful prayers that go with each lesson, but it is not a religious book by any means. They use God as you understand him. It is pretty intense, so I think it might take me little while to get through the whole thing. I just wanted to share that with you if anyone would be interested..
Hope everyone has a good day! I am off to mow the lawn and do some yard work before I have to do housework and then homework. Busy, busy!. Stay Optimistic!. Goldi.. |
CONGRATS!!!! Keep up the great work!!!!.
I had a -6 lbs weigh in for my first week this past Tuesday and just weighed today (for the heck of it) and I'VE LOST MY FIRST TEN POUNDS! I'm finally under the "100 pounds to go"!!!. I hope I can stay this motivated the whole way!!!.. |
I started(again)on 3/28/11 due to health issues. Can anyone tell me how to post my goals and progress? I started this time at 222.5 and today 4/3/11, down 10.5 pounds! So grateful and excited. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to stay the course. Thanks for any help...
Dear gettingitdone,.
Where did you want to post them?. One place is in your "My Page" choose "edit page" and there is a place to add your ticker and weight goals.. If you want it in here then you can add it to your Signature line.. Hope that helps. Denise.. |
Congratulations! You are doing so well-good for you! Can't wait till I hit my first 10..
Denise.. |
I started on April Fool's Day. Thought it sounded like a great day to start. I would love to get involved with this group. I have a long way to go, but my Coach has been great about checking in..
The food hasn't been too bad - except the Mango soft serve. Wow, that was sicky sweet.. Hope to get to know all of you better, and be here to support each other. THX!!.. |
Hey there everyone just stopping in to say HI.
Im out enjoying my sunday. Playing water balloon fight with the girls and going to my softball game tonight.. I'll catch up with you tmw.... Hope you all have an OP DAY!.. |
Day #4- what a difference! Yesterday was rough, I was so bloated with gas and experiencing stomach cramps, but thanks to some helpful people on my blog, they gave me some ideas. I went and got enzyme supplements and some other things to try. I feel a ton better today..
I don't feel as hungry anymore, in fact last night after my LG meal I still had to get in 2 Medifast meals and didn't feel hungry! No one would notice the changes in me yet, but wow I sure can.. My body is feeling different.. The biggie is that I am even in moods. I used to be so tired from eating the wrong foods. I have energy and alertness. I can also already feel a difference in my clothes.. I can't wait now to keep doing this.. I am actually craving some of these Medifast foods! This is crazy!.. |
This is my Day 4 too! I'm right there with you, that things feel different already. I had to take my bra straps up a bit, on my formerly-too-tight bra. This is HUGE for me; because of their size, my top is really the part of my body I dislike. A lot..
Happy happy happy, with how FAST this is changing my body... |
Thank you Victoria and I congratulate you on your great accomplishment too; WTG! Wishing you a great new week!..
I too would like to join "the club". Tomorrow I will weigh at the end of week 2. I lost 5.5 pounds the first week and now am feeling really good. I am so much more energetic, relieved to not be obsessed with where my next tasty food is going to come from and my joint pain has decreased by half, at least. I have about 120 pounds to lose, but am trying to focus on the fact that I feel SO much better!.
Pattibee.. |
Congrats to everyone on their weight losses and for staying on program! Woohoo! We are all stars!.
I weigh for the first time on Wednesday this week. I feel really good, so even if there isn't a huge loss I feel better, and have more energy already.. Have a good monday ladies!. Optimistic!. Goldi.. |
Today is the first day of week 2 for me. I have been enjoying the program. I have only been hungry twice and I am committed to staying OP. I got a call from my health coach Friday (For those that ask-You sign up for one when you order your meals) and it was great timing. I was headed out of town to host a baby shower where nothing at the party was going to be OP. I did well about not eating the things I shouldn't despite being the one to decorate the cake, make the punch, stuff the croissants (mmmm!), etc.
I think that slowed down my weight loss. :-( Despite my trials the first week, I still managed to lose 7 pounds on plan and 12 pounds overall. My husband is proud of me and his encouragement means the world to me.. I have heard people say before, "Food is Fuel." In the South, food is not viewed that way. It is fellowship, love, entertainment .... I am trying to view it more as a necessity than a way to socialize. Every time I see something that appeals to me that is off menu, I remember one of the first things my health coach told me, "Whenever you eat just one thing off plan, it cost you $30 and 3 days." Three days, OP, to get back into a fat burning state and $30 in Medifast food for those three day. I can't tell you how many times that has gone through my head this weekend! I hope if you haven't heard that before, it helps you too... |
How funny Sunshine37135 & cottage5home... I have twins too! 6 year old identical boys, and an older son (9) as well. I have yet to receive my first shipment (anxiously awaiting the FedEx man!), but looking forward to joining you all!.
Steph.. |
Hello All You Mid-Marchers!!.
Well, I must say that I am so esastic as I had my first weight in and lost 7lbs.. I have been on many diets before and never lost that much in a week. Maybe 2lbs at the most would be all I would lose. I love Medifast. I finally found my diet thanks to my friend at work.. Sunshine- Thanks so much for the input about "It takes 3 days to go into Ketosis and $30.00 in food". Yikes!! That is so good to keep in mind if you are being tempted at times. That will definitely inspire me.. Have a great week!!.. |
Katrina,.
You did awesome!!! It was a rough week full of temptations and depression. Still trying to comfort my dad and get through with the loss of my mother a few weeks ago. On the bright side, In my first week I lost 11 pounds and have already dropped another pound and a half thus far in my 2nd week... I still have 107 to go.. but I am determined to get there!!. Hugs to all.... Christina.. |
Is it too late to join you all? I just started 3-23 and "had" 90 lbs to lose. Had is the word because I already lost 7. Yippy! I'm not having too much trouble with the plan yet. I have been kind of excited to see the scale go in the other direction. I am having trouble emotionally. I have two kids and a husband who is the picture of fitness.
I really get down on myself when he suggests something to eat and it is not OP. I start thinking why do I have to do this? Why have I done this to myself that I have to lose weight? It really hit hard this past weekend. My son wanted to cook hotdogs and I said we were having grilled chicken instead. I kept my little boy from eating hotdogs because for years I ate hotdogs all the time. GRRRRR. Well last night we ate fish and my hubby grilled extra so tonight I am having grilled fish and veggies and the rest of the group will be having hotdog night.. I have my fingers crossed that my fish will keep me happy.. I'm so excited to finally be doing this for myself. Can anyone else chime in on the emotional aspect of this journey?.. |
