My 1st question is: Which is better, Nutrisystem or Weight Watchers? Thanks for any comment. Second question of mine... I usually have 1 a day, during dinner. But I keep reading about how they're bad, and can increase your appetite...which I certainly don't want. Any thoughts?.. |

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could answer your Nutrisystem question..

I enjoy Diet Pepsi too much to give it up. But I will only drink one after my water is finished for the day. I think the term to remember here is "moderation". Obviously, water is far more beneficial than diet soda, but to completely omit something from our diet that we enjoy is setting us up to fail..
Just my two cents... |
|
Ive cut down dramatically on the diet soda. However I say that while nursing a diet pepsi haha..
They tend to decrease my appetite significantly... I was surprised when people said they can increase it. Hmm.. I do feel lest bloated when I stay away from them tho.. |

Wrong. You can and should LEARN new habits, since your old/existing habits are what made you overweight to begin with..
So don't think you know all the right answers, if you did, you wouldn't need to be using this forum.. Having said that, one diet soda a day *might* be ok if you drink it early in the day and hyrdrate on top of it the rest of the day.. If you drink it, as you say, after you have hydrated, it might be later in the day, and leave your body dehydrated (since the non-organics in diet soda actually have been clinically proven to cause dehydration) during the night, which causes your body to store fat cells rather than burn them to fuel muscle repair and growth.. These are nutritional facts, you can verify them by researching the forums and e-papers at. Www.bodybuilding.com. Where the best of the best in nutrition, body building, strong man/woman competition, etc. hang out and share information... |

I really enjoy both Diet Pepsi and Dr. Pepper...Coke taste horrible and should be taken off the market....
I say this from my vast few days on the program, but the damn water gets in the way of my diet drinking. By the time I'm done drinking water I might be good for a sip of my wife's drink. I agree with Steve, even though I don't find myself needing to drink it as much if it was taken away from me I may jump back into drinking it more and sabotages this thing.. Tab.. |

I was drinking a quantity of Crystal Light daily, but now I'm doing about 90% water. And I've upped my average water intake to at least a gallon a day. I think it's making a difference..
Oh, and I still have two or three cups of coffee in the AM, but typically follow it with a quart of H2O during my workout... |
|
I'm drinking caffeine-free flavored (fruit and spice blends) herbal teas to have something different tasting to drink, along with plain filtered water for my daily water servings. I hardly ever drink "diet" drinks. I'll also have morning coffee, but that does not count toward the water servings because of the caffeine...

On Nutrisystem I've been drinking far less diet soda than before. Im drinking mostly water with flavor packets. I've rediscovered Hawaiian Punch diet flavor crystals along with Crystal Light. Peach ice tea is a favorite (diet and caffeine free)..
I no longer have soda in the house and only have it out on occasion.. Recently I've been drinking. "Sam's Clear American Sparkling Water Beverage". From Wal-Mart. But even those I don't drink everyday... |
|
Diet Pepsi for me............. it's the least of my problems..
|
|
I've gone over completely to water (other than morning coffee). Don't even miss the other stuff that I thought I had to have. No judgments. I just find it Interesting how the mind works and how we're all different..
Gordon.. |
|
I drink a lot of Coke Zero's. I think they taste great. I was unaware of all of the other stuff that I've read on this topic. Maybe I need to do some more research. I was under the impression that we could have diet sodas liberally as long as we drank the required water..
Oh well, it's still working for me right now.. |
|
Y'all will think I'm nuts, but I've been drinking 1/2 water and 1/2 Diet coke (or any diet soda) for years as I hate carbonation and don't care for a soda that's too sweet...

WOW! And you are "busting my chops" for what reason? I simply shared what has worked for me - 90 pounds later in case you didn't look at the ticker! I wasn't looking for someone to come along and rip me a new one. I will not dispute one thing you said about the effects of diet soda, but don't come in here treating me like I know nothing. Your comments are way out of line!.
And one other thing.....I learned the new habits, adopted the new lifestyle and I am no longer overweight!.. |
|
I agree with Steve. Totally out of line. Privateer, maybe you need to lay off the juice or only post on musclehead.com. Different strokes for different folks. In case you didn't get the memo, this board is a SUPPORT forum. Yes, occasionally we need a swift kick in the arse, but unprovoked venom just sucks..
P.S. Steve, your ticker says it all. Keep up the good work!.. |
|
The proof is in the tickers! Another diet myth busted..
The more I mess with this, I have to believe that the overriding equation still is, and always will be: Calories In minus Calories Out = Weight Change. Gordon.. |
|
Im not a big fan of diet soda but I do have one every now and then just to mix things up. I usually go with Coke Zero...
|
|
I quit drinking diet Mountain Dew the day I started NS..
Along with my water intake, now I drink Arizona diet green tea, Ocean Spray diet juice and diet v8 splash juice... |
|
Yeah the Diet Pepsi is the spritz I like at dinner, while most of the day I drink water and protein shakes...
|

I'm not sure, I need to do more testing, but two times now since I have started Nutrisystem diet soda has (again, I think) interfered. First was about a month ago my progress was stymied - upon drinking straight water the whole day and cutting out the diet soda my weight lose resumed..
Then over the weekend I gained about 2-lbs. I bought a 12-pack of diet coke last Thursday. So thinking it was the diet coke I went back to straight water and this morning I'm back on track. (my eating habits and water intake stayed constant)... |
